So it is not as hard to get into as Arma 3 for example.
If you join a server that is doing PVE, and has a low player count, 10-30, you will find people that are willing to help out and work with you.
Start with un modded servers, at least until you get the basics.
People hate on them, but go thru the tutorial, in a couple hours you will know more than a lot of the people that play who skipped them.
They teach you a lot.
I would say the entry point for time, is about 50 hour or so.
After that, you will have a good grasp on things and are able to support and help with things and not just be in the way.
