Questions about keybindings
I've been playing since OFP and over the years have gotten accustomed to certain keybindings that might seem quirky to some.

First of all is it possible that save keybind presets? I'm guessing not since it's normally at the top of the list.

So, I normally have 'sprint' bound to holding W+S because you cannot sprint sideways or backwards, freeing up shift for other controls. This worked fine in ARMA 3, however it seems that trying to do so in Reforger just makes you stop as if it's trying to go forward and backward simultaneously instead of overriding backwards. I've even tried setting sprint to S but no dice. I still want holding S by itself to move backwards but in conjunction with W it should sprint forwards.

I do like that adjusting your movement speed is done with the mouse wheel now, just like in Hidden and Dangerous, but you can't access sprinting that way.

Anyways, I'm also trying to set my crouch/prone keys. I have crouch/stand on X, but I want to set prone/stand to holding X so that I can use one button to do it all, but I can't seem to get the 'add action prefix: press and hold" thing to actually apply to the keybind. Turns out what I'm looking for is the 'timeout' prefix on Prone/Stand and 'single click' for crouch/stand. This does give me what I want, but due to the nature of binding multiple keys to one button there is a slight delay while the game checks if you're holding or just pressing a key. I'll have to fiddle with this and decide if I am okay with the small delay or if I'm going to go back to having two buttons for stances once again.

Does anyone else play with some weird bindings? It looks like F is the use key now so I'm probably going to go through and swap bindings between F and middle mouse button, or maybe put it on G or similar. It's pretty nice how much they've managed to condense the keybinds compared to previous games, or at the very least organize them in a sensible way.

EDIT: I remembered what else I was going to ask. In previous games pushing the windows keys did not open the windows start menu, leaving them open to use like any other button. I usually had ACE and ACRE use the windows keys and the 'menu key' (the one next to right windows) but if it keeps opening the start menu then I'm going to have to find another button.

It might be feasible to swap out the control settings file.
Create one that you like, and save it as something else.
Then you can just rename them to the right name when you want.
Wont be hotswappable though, would have to close the game and reopen it.

They removed a lot of controls and functionality, to make way for console controllers.
But even the console people have to have a keyboard close by, as there is not enough buttons to use all the controls.

They are changing with updates, they are condensing, moving, removing them, and adding them.

Just keep that in mind, as it could break the config files if you use them after an update.

Alright, I'd probably just make a spreadsheet listing the controls I have as a substitute for presets. Having the W+S thing and the windows buttons fixed or worked around would be pretty nice though. I usually have spacebar as free look but it may end up being my sprint key while shift before free look and general modifier key. Will have to play around a bit more to find out what's best. At least I've freed up Z and X, might be able to get away with double tapping V being the vault button as well as single taps/holding being weapon resting/bipod.

Keep in mind, we have jump this time around, so might need space for that.

I have rest weapon on V, deploy bipod on holding V, and jump on double tapping V and it works fine in preliminary testing. It's pretty much the same setup I had for the old mantling key but it looks like they've vastly improved the system which is nice. I don't see myself needing to bunny hop around like It's a 90's shooter so not being able to spam it is fine.

Another question... I can enable mouse control for the helicopter's cyclic but there's no option to do so for steering ground vehicles? Seems kinda weird to me being forced to steer with A and D when mouse steering worked fine in the older games. (I do wish that the mouse control for helicopters behaved like it did in ARMA 3 but that's a whole other topic).

On the jumping, you are spot on with how it is not used much. Mainly for vaulting, like the other games.

There is a mod that does mouse steering to correct that, but not a way to do it by default.

Oh hey, as long as that's a clientside mod that's actually a neat idea with the throttle control.
