Exactly when they stop here and launch is unknown as far as I know at least.
There is no official information on when Arma 4 will be released. However, based on the pace of the development of reforger, we can assume that....
1, If A4 is going to have similar features/content to A3, then A4 is still years away (at least 2-3 years).
2, If A4 will be released in the next year or so, it will be much smaller in scale/scope compared to A3.
3, If A4 releases in about 1.5-2 years, it will be in smaller scale/scope compared to A3.
So it all depends on what scale, and scope that BI intent for A4. Personally, I think the third option is the most likely. Frankly, I don't think BI is capable of delivering an Arma game like A3 in the foreseeable future, and that A4 is going to have fewer features, and less content compared to A3.
I can see it having less assets than A2, which is the game the devs said they over stretched on but what's your reasoning for "less than A3"?
theres already more gameplay "elements" than A3, eg the explosives and med systems, which whilst not of ACE depth are far more than A3 shipped with.
Than at launch? Because lots happened to it since then.
Because with the current pace of development it would take more time to create an Arma game with a similar scope as A3, than BI is willing to wait to release A4.
I don't, I'm just making my best guess.
it's fine to guess but ensure you let folk know that's what your doing otherwise it can be seen to be disingenuous.
going from available info, ie what we have now in game suggests you are incorrect, unless they decide to remove gameplay elements from Reforger, which while not impossible, isn't very likely.
eg we may see a different med system or explosives system than what we have now.
if a system caused irreparable knock on effects then it might be removed but there's no evidence of that so far.
we can be, I beleive, more than fairly sure A4 will have a wider scope than A3 at launch, notwithstanding some cataclysmic unforseen real world event.
^^^ I thought this was pretty clear that I was giving an opinion, not official information.
As for the rest of you post....I seen nothing with reforger that would suggest that A4 will have a wider scope than A3. Adding some silly ACE like features while leaving out many of the most important features that make up the core Arma experience, does not suggest to me that A4 will have a wider scope than A3. It in fact suggest the opposite, combined with the exceptionally slow pace of development, all suggests a smaller scope for A4.
Maybe A4 will be similar to A3 someday, but the current pace of development suggest that day is quite a few years away, if it ever happens.
having a fairly detailed med system that's part of the base game is quite a step forward and enables much deeper gameplay for vanilla players, for example.
I don't see any evidence of the devs "leaving out" core gameplay, all I've seen is additional elements added. eg the explosives.
I see the "exceptionally slow pace" as a plus not a negative even if it can feel frustrating at times.
