Mixed reviews, but...

Is it worth playing anyway? I know most of the reviews are veterans ragging on it for being inferior to Arma 3, but what about for new players? I've made a couple of attempts to get into Arma 3, but its just too daunting, and I might be able to use Reforger as a stepping stone to Arma 3, like I suspect the devs intended. Are there any good videos or reviews that cover the game from a newcomer's perspective?

Reforfer is more accessible but its very very bate bones for most users.

I'd say to persevere with Arma3 and keep an ear out for Reforger developments.

I like reforger but can't really wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wants to *just* play.

For those who want to support the devs it's great to see it (slowly) evolve.

I'm really keen on Refoger and a "fan" but I rarely play it.

Alright then, I think I'd be better off with Arma 3 after all; maybe I'll start by playing a single Showcase at a time to have a more focused experience. It sounds like Reforger is just too lacking in content to stand on its own, and the non-discounted price stings for someone who already owns too much Arma 3 DLC for how little I've played it.

Yes, stick with Arma 3, and as you said, try the showcase missions, they are good for learning the basics of the game. Also, you can always just play around in the editor to learn the basics as well.

i see alot of console players on reforger. Im guessing since they can't play arma 3 they have no choise but play reforger if they want any sort of arma experience.



Reforger is still being worked on in spite of slow development process ( part of me thinks they were still sorting out baseline game bugs up until this point) . the Experimental build of the game had functional Ballistic vests added plus a health/medic system at the very end of June. Its only a matter of time before main build gets these features added in, and servers start filling up again. dealing with lack of content is also somewhat easier to deal with if you play on modded servers.

that being said arma 3 is on summer sale for 75% off. so its a good opportunity to buy it.

reforger have some cool ideas to play around with but if you want singleplayer content than it is lacking.
