More Dynamic Unconscious/Incapacitated State
instead of snapping into a lying down position it should stay in the last position after ragdolling with a subtle breathing animation to indicate they're still alive with this type of system dead checking/double-tapping would be even more vital as it wouldn't be as obvious to tell if an enemy is confirmed dead and when a players goes to check for injuries it should then transition into the lying down animation we currently have

Agree. The breathing is already present. I use Binocs to check any bodies laying on their backs to see if they are breathing before wasting rounds. The insta flip is a dead "not dead" giveaway though.

There is an addon that tries this, “Keep Ragdoll Pose”. You drop in a random position, and medics have to manually turn you over to apply bandages etc.

Thanks for letting me know didn't realize there was a mod that does exactly that I'll give it a shot hopefully it'll get integrated into vanilla

It appears the Experimental Branch has this now. I played earlier and was down but remained face down then got up and healed. AI had his back to me and I was able to draw my sidearm and kill him.

I gave experimental a shot and currently playing combat ops from what I've been noticing there are just added variations of the downed state

I would love to see an even more advanced system where it depends on where you get shot.
1. Shot in the leg you go down but can sit or crouch into cover still use at least your handgun.
2. Shot hard on chest to get knocked unconscious but drop like you would irl.
3. Shot in the rifle holding arm so you can only hold a handgun until you get medical services.
Overall give the medics and ambulance more purpose!

in-depth limb damage would be great hopefully a system like this would be planned in the future if not in reforger maybe in arma 4
