There is your issue. Despite what some people say (not saying you), this is far from being a flight simulator. Without making many other changes, if autorotations were added, it would have to be achieved some other way.. basically faked. Would it matter if it were faked? Not really. As long as it gave the impression that you were actually doing an autorotation, despite the process not being based off telemetry from the heli.
Auto-rotation was well implemented in Arma 3 and well received.
The updated flight model in 1.3 doesn't feel bad but our current flight loop isn't great. Tweaking fire damage would help a lot... Feels unrealistic that it would knock everyone out in 5 seconds, in different parts of the fuselage. Maybe the passengers in the back...
Auto rotation landing for out of fuel scenarios, engine failure from damage.
Rotor bump would be a net negative to fun. I think it's better to be more interactive and dynamic instead of just burning up in 5 seconds or having your rotors pop constantly.
I currently hesitate to even call it one, it's like driving a slightly more intert jeep in the sky isn't it?
Don't think we're gonna see a lot of development on this aspect in the near future, sadly, but it's definitely lackluster as it is. Helos should be A) much less frail and harder to bring down but also B) take much more proficiency to utilize properly.
