How to locally host?
Attempting to host a new server through the ingame 'host' feature, it is not working. My friend is getting this code:

>> kick cause code group=1 'replication' reason 3 connection_failure <<

The game is clearly advertising a 'launch and host' service but its not working? Why are they selling this new 'co-op' update if you cant even simply host a server for you and your buds?

There is absolutely zero documentation (or at least up to date documentation) on how exactly any of this works. Google is completely incompetent as usual, and anything I can find on the steam forums is basically 'yea me too' in response to this error, or something vague.

- if I need to port forward (which is lame, why?), what is the base host port, port range, and protocol?

- if I need to use a VPN (which is lame, why?), like hamachi, how exactly does that work?

I'm not versed in any of this stuff when it comes to arma reforger, and (again) there is zero up-to date info or any info at all regarding this.

it took me a lot of willpower to not litter this with slurs and derogatory remarks so if you have an answer or any help thank you very much, I'm sure the person who bumps into your answer a month from now will also appreciate it.

Again, thanks.

Everyone tells you to forward Port TCP 2001
But after a whole night of sharing logs and crawling the Internet for the correct Answer, a friend of mine found the Solution.
And now I feel dedicated to share it with everyone I came across on my search for this.

Here are the ports that require forwarding:

TCP: 27015, 27036
UDP: 2001, 17777, 27015, 27031-27036

XBox
TCP: 3074
UDP: 88, 500, 3074, 3544, 4500

Now everything just works.
Hope it helps.

Why is port forwarding "lame"? its normally for hosting your own game servers. Some games can do it automatically others can't but its not uncommon.

But about the issue i think its related to the fact that all servers even local servers are required to connect to official arma reforger servers for whatever reason.
Me and my friend have the same problem.. port forwarding didnt work..

And what am I supposed to do with this ‘information’?

I can barely be trusted to switch a PC on, never mind mess with settings.

Like the original poster, all I want to do is play with my mates and host my own games without paying a fortune for a dedicated server!

Yeah - we tried this last Sunday and it worked, we all celebrated.

It was my mate who set it up on his, then in the week I replicated it on my machine and no one could join - I thought I messed up but checked again and my ports were set how he has them, and how you have specified here, so puzzled, I tried to join his game, but now his doesn't work either lol

So sad about this, it's another week to go before we can all try and play again.
I had this same issue all this week. Turns out I was missing the Windows Defender firewall inbound rule allowing UDP port 2001.

I only realised when I was trying to replicate the issue on a friends device and got the defender popup to allow changes. It worked fine then when he hosted it so I disabled my defender firewall entirely and then it worked for me. I turned it back on and added an inbound rule for port 2001 and it's been working fine since.

I must have dismissed the popup originally when I was hosting.

I see the same thing. This error only appears on mod servers. And only on those I want to play on. I forwarded ports in the router, configured the Firewall - all to no avail.

Я наблюдаю у себя тоже самое. Такая ошибка появляется только на модовых серверах. Причём только на тех, на которых я хочу играть. Пробрасывал порты в роутере, настраивал Брандмауер - всё бесполезно.
For those of you still struggling with this, highly suggest you verify that you CAN port forward in the first place. Not all ISP’s assign a dynamic/static public IP.. some assign you a Public IP under a CGNAT which wont directly prohibit you from port forwarding but essentially those Ports wont be accessible outside of your Network… the only solution is a VPN with Portforwarding Capabilities, which personally did not work for me, so ended up having to Rent a dedicated server.

Not sure where that laundry list of ports came from but if you are only hosting PC with no extras like A2S and Rcon, you only need 2001. I have been hosting forever with just this port. Not wise to just start opening ports just because someone said it worked, especially if those ports are not needed.

Contact your ISP. Mine is CGnat and they can work around that. They gave me a static IP address and put their equipment in bypass mode.
