What is the 3rd ID?
Founded in March of 2025, our unit seeks to provide an immersive, authentic, and engaging experience of the US Army Infantry in the 1980s. This is not a modern MilSim unit; instead, it highlights a historically awesome, visually pleasing, and otherwise interesting time of military history.

How to Join
Navigate to https://3rdinfantry.us/ and complete the "ENLIST" option under PERSCOM and join the discord https://www.discord.gg/3rdinfantry

A member of our recruiting staff will then reach out to set up a brief interview, either through voice or text

Following the completion of the above steps, you will be given appropriate roles in Discord

Additional Information
New members will be subjected to a fourteen(14) day probationary period. This probationary period will provide an opportunity to evaluate a new member's activity, attitude, and compatibility with how the unit operates. New members during this period will have to attend one(1) event to pass.

New members will have thirty(30) days to complete an Initial Entry Training. This training is to ensure an entry-level familiarity with how to play Reforger and provides basic concepts regarding how the unit operates.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are your operation/event times?

Our unit operates official events every week on Saturday evenings, typically around 8:00pm EST(GMT -5). However, many of our members play together on a daily basis. We likewise host unofficial events/operations throughout the week. As the unit progresses, it is likely that additional official events will be scheduled that cater to various time zones.

Does your unit use mods?

Yes - however, all modifications utilized are relevant to quality-of-life changes or are period-correct for the 1980s.

I play on Playstation. Can I join the unit?

Yes - however, Playstation players will not be able to participate in official events until mod compatibility is supported for that platform.

Do I have to change my Steam name to join?

No, you do not have to change your Steam profile name to join. However, it is required during unit operations. Your name can be changed back with ease following your participation in an event.

Can I be in another group while being in this one?

Yes, but please refer to the rules regarding poaching. We do not prohibit dual-clanning or dual-membership with other organizations

.I want to be a pilot. Can I join as one?

Yes - if the enlistment slots are listed on PERSCOM as open. However, please note that your role will be pilot in all operations while assigned to rotary. Rotary wing is kept within a separate chain-of-command than that of our Infantry / Mechanized elements.

Do I have to complete a Basic Training?

Our organization requires the completion of an Initial Entry Training(IET) within 30 days of joining. This is a short training that ensures all members have an equal understanding of Reforger and how the unit operates.

Does the 3rd ID ever do modern operations?

We do not, and we pride ourselves as one of the only Cold War-era units on Reforger. However, as mentioned above, dual membership is not prohibited should you wish to likewise join a modern unit.
