Battleye: Update failed (1, 6). Please check your internet connection and/or firewall.
I keep getting this error when I try opening the game:
"Update failed (1, 6). Please check your internet connection and/or firewall.
Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have appropriate permissions to access this item"

I've reinstalled the game.
Uninstalled and reinstalled battle eye.
Turned off fire wall.
Updated nvidia drivers.
Moved game back to my C: drive.

Anyone else getting this issue? I can't figure it out

I fixed my own issue

I was using a custom DNS so I went back to 1.1.1.1 Cloudflare DNS

I couldn't even access battleye's website beforehand, so it was a DNS issue

Thanks, this helped solve my problem. My pi-hole setup was blocking the BattlEye update.

I've spent 2 days trying to sort this issue out, done everything from;

Verifying game files in Steam, uninstalling and reinstalling BattlEye, running as Administrator, turning off Windows Defender, allowing exceptions in the Firewall for all the BattlEye services / its applications, allowing 'full control' permissions for all the BattlEye applications, updating Windows (I'm not using Windows Insider build), updating GPU drivers, using CMD prompt to delete BattlEye and changing my group policies.

The BattlEye error codes I got while updating were:

(1,28) *original error code before I started troubleshooting*
(1, 6)
(5, 56)

I tried different DNS's, and the ones I tried, changed which error code I got, which made me think it could be a possible cause.

1.1.1.1, didn't work. Tried Google's 8.8.8.8, didn't work. But Google's 8.8.4.4 worked perfectly and I was able to update BattlEye and play Arma.

Many thanks for the tip! :)

I’m not too sure, maybe my internet service provider was giving me drama as well. I’m actually surprised it worked nonetheless

On windows search for services.msc
Rmb on battleye -> restart
Run the game.
Tried the dns thing, it works in 8.8.4.4 but I don't understand it, so I found ^ on reddit. Simple no mystery to it, hope it works for you as well.
Edit; battleye resumed being funky, added restart on fail in the same utility
BE service, rmb > properties > ~recovery > first fail > restart
