Bohemia Interactive Backend Initialization Error

I am intermittently met with this when trying to play the game. It gives me a red icon in the top right corner of my screen on the main menus and claims all services are down and that my ping is 999+ms. My internet connection is strong, fiber optic connection with only me using it.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? I've been looking for a solution for ages but I can't find a post with this problem.

I've re-validated, reinstalled, everything I can think of to no avail. It seemingly happens at random.

EDIT Feb 2025: Still randomly happens to me. It's just Bohemia Interactive having poor server quality. This thread got popular right after Reforger's release on Playstation. I'd imagine the backend servers were not equipped to handle as many players as the game has now.

Im on xbox, i just want to play arma. But it fights me every step of the way. Im using double cat 8 fiber optic cables with 500MBS and still can't play arma. I don't know what else to do beside wait 5 plus years to be able to afford a top of the line set up with max internet. Or bohemia can get there stuff together and fix it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled over 4 times now, hard reset my console. I dont know what else to do. I've completely given up on trying since now the game has completely stopped working for me on xbox

Mate you aint using cat 8

Cat6 is the highest household Ethernet cable and supports up to 10GB, and this has nothing to do with your internet, it's their servers that are dying no need to reinstall or any of that it's all on their end.

Move the game files to a knew location through steam, worked for me or maybe a coincidence.

ps5 Players are able to get on just fine, might just be down for PC? or PC players in certain states? no clue

Same thing happening to me. Backend Initialization Error. I can connect sometimes but all of the servers I play on have 300+ ping when I normally get about 40. Can't connect to any of them, after waiting in queue I get disconnected.

I have since moved apartments from when I wrote this post. Still happens to me periodically. It really is the god awful Bohemia Interactive game service servers. No fix ever found :(
