Is this game playable?
Im wondering if spending 40$ is worth it, or if the game will just keep crashing and will be riddled with bugs.

It is worth it's money, but in no means it is a polished product.
It is very rough when it comes to both the quality of the game and the gamedesign.

They are very slow with addressing issues like minor bugs and or balance problems, and it probably has to do with the fact that it's crossplay with eggbox, and you can't just upload a hotfix day one like you can with normal steam titles,It probably takes around a week for microsoft to approve a patch.
It will get only worse when they come to playstation.

Ok thanks. Yeah, im really not sure why the arma devs decided to build the game for consoles, arma is the definition of a PC only title, and like you said, its only going to make fixes etc that much more awkward implementing.

While it is true and unfortunate but the reality is console players kept this one alive.

He means, more Console players than PC players for ArmA Reforger ... .

For ArmA Reforger, keep in mind, it's a "work in progress", so in the long term (in 2 or 3 years) this title have the potential to be a success.

Meantime, majority of the buyers come and go when we have game's update. Why, because of the stability of the multi-players plate-form, game/server crash too often.

So, when it's time to make a decision to buy this game, ask yourself if you want to support the game or simply wait positive reviews about the game before buying it.

my decision to buy this game weighs on how many bugs and crashes there are, if them trying to incorporate console makes it so there is more of that, then to me its really not a good thing. Arma 4 would thrive as a PC game it doesn't need console players, look at arma 3, been out for a decade and thrived ever since then, PC only game

ArmA have evolved with a new engine. BIS have give us a first look of the future of ArmA with ArmA Reforger.

At the present state of developement, it's unfinished but playable and enjoyable if you don't mind about the game/server crashes ... .

Apparently its actually out of early access, which means we should judge it as a full product for the time being.

They didn't really build if for consoles, they built it with consoles in mind. I had the chance to play it on a buddies xbox and I can tell you right now that the control scheme on console is absolute dog water. It's significantly easier on pc but they had to make it in such a way that it could be played on console too. Definitely wouldn't say it was built for console though.

When a game is designed as multi platform, it is made for consoles, as you are locked into that hardware, and it will not change. The Arma series is now a console game, and this will have a major impact on the potential of what Arma 4 can be.

Just one example with Arma 3. BI was able to make the Tanoa terrain for the Apex expansion. That was only possible because PCs were getting more powerful, and could handle it. This kind of advancement will not be possible now that Arma is a console game. There will of course be many other limitations because of consoles, and we will also be stuck with terrible UI that isn't made specifically for PC anymore. Just look at how terrible the UI is for Game Master.

Saying "multi platform" and "made for consoles" in the same sentence makes zero sense. Multi platform means that it was made to be playable on multiple platforms, it's very literal. Made for consoles means it was only made for consoles and not any other platforms. You took 2 completely opposite but literal statements and put them together. So my question is, is DayZ made for console simply because it's on console, and has a control scheme that supports controllers? COD, Battlefield, CS? All these games are on console but they aren't "made for console" they're multi platform. They can't be both.

The Arma series isn't locked into the current gen hardware, I just made that up...or....you failed to grasp the point, you just don't get, but whatever.

So tell me how exactly Reforger is a "console game" you still haven't answered my question. You specifically said "made FOR consoles." It's not even a question of hardware, I'm questioning your wording. I don't think you even get what you are saying and I suspect you probably didn't even think about it before you typed it out. But you do you buddy.

Its not worth it.

Game is fun for sure and the best when it comes to the PvP in any arma series.

But the games AI is horrendous and have no idea what to do half the time and cant even use a vehicle sometimes. PVE I wouldnt recommend it at all especially for 40$ as there is very very little content in the game.

PVP it is a huge recommend for sure again its the best arma game with pvp but its only 32 player servers not like KOTH on arma 2 or 3 where its 100 player serves and its filled with xbox players.

The game also has a huge issue with performance on quite a few PCs.
