I'd have to say either a Corsair HS65 or HS80 depending on how much you want exactly you're looking for. HS65 is the cheaper option and generally has a bit better battery life, and the HS80 has better sound quality and a much better mic with a bit worse battery life and a higher price.

me personally ive been gaming for over a decade and have gone through dozens of headphones if your looking for good cheap reliable headphones that still sound good use hyperx cloud series 1 or 2 doesnt matter but if you have the money you should look into the Beyerdynamics dt990 pros ive had these headphones for the past four years open back so you dont get muddles audio the sound which you do hear you can tell exactly where its coming from and how far and the bass sounds magnificent theres plenty of audiophile videos out there just need to do your own research

I had a cheaper version (about $100) pair of the GSPs and was very disappointed with the build quality and also the quality of the mic. Sennheiser has such a great reputation, but those things started breaking apart. Cheap plastic “headband” broke to the point where it was unadjustable. The mic audio was so thin and almost clipping distorted.

Currently using Audio Technica ATH-M50x. So far they feel good, sound better than the Sennheisers, but no mic, if you need a headset with a mic then this isn’t for you. I use a trusty ole Shure SM58 mic plugged into an audio interface which then connects to the PC via USB. It’s insane how crappy all those expensive headset mics sound. They’re all tiny diaphragm and don’t/can’t capture the low end of your voice. I’ve only heard a select few that were actually decent.

TLDR: $150 for a pair of ATH-M50x if you don’t need a “gaming headset” with a mic attached.

I'd recommend getting a good pair of open back headphones or some IEMs and a standalone mic if you want some pretty superb quality. For some budget IEMs you can go with the Truthear x Crinacle Reds (about 50 buckaroos) and most budget (around 50-70$) dynamic mics will do you more than good.

TL;DR: Truthear x Crincle Reds ~$55, FiFine AM8 dynamic mic ~$55, and a budget mic arm from Target (~$40) puts you right at 150 and you get superb audio and mic quality.
