The God like skill of AI in single player
Wish I could play as good as the AI in single player mode.

Scenario: Whatever task I do, I am going to take a sniper rifle to clear some of the AI before entering the town on my own, to complete a task.

So I set myself up behind a tree, poking out of some bushes, or on top of the container crane on St Pierre (I think that’s the name). I take a head shot at a soldier at 400 metres and drop him, great. But he AI can see my camouflaged helmet in the bushes or on top of platform from 400 metres away, without binoculars. They can even see through the tree branches and leaves from that distance, that they are standing behind. So I get fired upon all over town. Bloody amazing. I can not see their whole body without binoculars, they are so small. Amazingly, they can see my camouflaged helmet which must be a size of a small basketball, in real life, at 400 metres under cover. This is so ridiculous, it’s so unreal, that it makes the single player mode virtually unplayable. The ones behind the tree leaves etc, are a absolute joke. But I will keep trying, I will just have to take one shot and move, like I do.

I like playing more tactical guerrilla style game play, as it helps my short comings.

I play single player games all the time these days. As my days of multi player days are over, of the first Battlefield, COD, American Army, MOH etc.

This could have such a good single player game mode, but the x-ray eyes and what I would call “Cheat Mods” in a multi player, of the AI, ruin it.

The AI in Incursion Red River are so much better. For us old coots, hopeless, slow players and physically tested. At least I can adjust the AI to a level challenging game. They don’t have x-ray eyes, they can’t see you at 400 plus metres and if they don’t have sight of you they don’t shoot or see you.

I think the Devs really need to work on the GOD like AI abilities. This game could be so amazing in single player if it wasn't for the AI.

The workshop isn't working so I can't lookup if people have made AI modifiers yet. When it's up, I suggest looking there. The AI has always been bad in Arma, I don't see them changing it, but leaving it up to the players.

I don't know the reason why you say your multiplayer days are over, but there is more to Arma then twitch-shooting if you're concerned you lack the skill level. Understanding and utilizing tactics, making sure all the bases are running smoothly, and sabotaging enemy bases will put you over the edge of other players that don't care about that stuff.

Yes they see you through all . But you are doing the right thing take out from distance first then move in very quite .

Thanks, I found something in the workshop that I think works, just hope it not to over limiting on AI.

Yeah maybe I should give it a go. It's been a while for MP. But like you say there's more to this game than twitch-shooting.
Thanks

Yeah, the frustrating ones, are the AI that are shooting you from behind the tree canopy and I can't see them. If I can't see them, how are they seeing me, they must have a radar setting in the AI programming, set for 500 metres.

They are far from God-like. I can make it into virtually any town undetected and ambush the AI. Staying crouched, using cover and changing location when they start zeroing in on you is key. I play GrampsPVE and capping a base can take an hour or more, involving over 40 AI. I have taken over bases start to finish without respawning and by scavenging dead AI and switching to their weapons and ammo. It is your playing style that is making them seem God-like. I take out at least 7 in this video, after sneaking into town. They don't start firing until I messed up on the 4th kill and layed on full auto too long. I retreat after the 7th kill when they start zeroing on the area I had just left. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3424019864

The AI are super easy imo. Too easy at times.
Keep near solid cover and don't shoot from the same position too much.
Concealment in this game doesn't work, you need hard cover if you are to work the Ai.
They are fairly unrealistic, and not as good as some of the Arma 3 Ai mods allowed you to have.

Your best bet if you need a fire fight, is to get in a building and use that to your advantage.
Bullets do not penetrate walls at the moment, so that makes buildings and windows a really nice spot to shoot from.
And if they come inside, you can mow them down with nice hip fire in the worst case.

Total nonsense!
I've sneaked up on them through bushes and stood 10 feet behind them and only when I shot did they react and dive for cover. I've also had 5 or 6 AI trying to hunt me down, while I lay prone in a bush in the long grass and had one literally walk within 3 feet of me and NOT see me while I held still. I find the AI to be the best I've seen in any Arma yet and my hats off to the team that did this! My friends also regularly comment on just how amazing it is too. You are doing something wrong. Don't make noise and they will not hear you. Twigs in a forrest snap, birds take off squawking when approached. These things can alert AI it seems from my experience.

The AI don't see through bushes/trees, only grass/wheat. What they can do, with uncanny accuracy, is return fire to where they heard the shot come from. Their hearing is what is overpowered, not their vision, which can be really poor and narrow focused a lot of the time. Similarly, AI patrols can, on hearing a single shot, find you in deep forest, which actually make them easy to deal with, as you can lay a trap for them.
if the workshop is back online, there is a nice mod that dumbs down the ai, then its much more fair&fun to play solo stuff.

mod name: AI difficulty reduced

Thanks everyone, maybe I need more practice. I've been crouching and moving and using cover, houses etc. It's just the AI that know where I am at a 400 metre sniping spot that bewilders me. They must be amazing at zoning in from hearing me. I have realised lately that shooting and moving, they fire upon your last firing spot.

Dude i will be aiming at a ai that doesn't know where i am and he just turns and looks at me right away doesn't matter if i am behind or to the side he just knows
They all can lock on even u try to snipe over 500m. I tried in admin mode zeus mode something map to test sniper ammo. This make people knows how to play with ai got some advantages in spotting..with power of the Matrix police

Not only that i think they can see player but because they been program to alert depend on range they took quite awhile to finally spot you *on crawl also and about 300-400m
