DDoS attacks are no joke. It's similar to a roach infestation for an exterminator. The attacks just keep coming and all that traffic has to be filtered. Then when those DDoS attacks get filtered out and you recover, they just attack again with a different type.

The problem with this one on such a large scale is that it cost money. And with a non-live service game, that can be tricky. Stuff like this can literally bankrupt multi million dollar companies.
So, just try to view it from a different perspective.
Pretty much all game servers are not owned by the developers. It is because it is absurdly expensive, even for a small server farm.
DDoS protection does not mean immunity to DDoS attacks, unfortunately.
The problem is that the attacks aren't coming from one central server, they're coming from what's known as a botnet (hundreds of thousands of compromised computers that are being used maliciously without the machine owners knowledge) so you can't really track it down to just one person. You can combat this through null-routing which is directing that traffic to a non existent IP address but this doesn't really work in something like a game because legit traffic would get sent there as well.
You can also have the servers identify malicious IP addresses and blacklist them which works for smaller scale attack but the problem there is that most IP's these days aren't static and those hundreds of thousands of compromised machines can simply get by this because of the widespread use of dynamic IP's.
There are bot detection methods that can be used but the success rate on that isn't really that great either. The best way they can combat this is by scrubbing all traffic that gets sent to the servers where bogus traffic gets sent to a bogus IP and legitimate traffic gets sent to the actual IP. This is very effective and is what I'm assuming Bohemia is currently doing but with a DDoS attack there is really no fully stopping it, you can only mitigate the problem until the attacker either gets caught or decides to stop.
I get the sentiment but the fact that people have been able to connect at all during this week is evidence that they are doing a LOT to combat this attack. People genuinely do not understand how difficult it is to combat this. Like another user pointed out above it's like a roach infestation. Where there's one there's a thousand type of thing. It's not someone hacking into some back network thing. It's a brute force attack that sends a ton of garbage traffic to the targeted servers from a huge network of compromised computers. As I explained above there's ways to protect against it but no way to actually stop it largely due to the fact that even when IP's get blacklisted it doesn't really matter because of the widespread use of dynamic IP addresses. They can switch their own IP's as well but it does not take long for the attacker to find the new IP's and send traffic to those as well. Fighting a DDoS attack is one of the most insane uphill battles possible in the IT realm.
If they do what you propose, that could easily bankrupt the company.
When one lives in a country that has no extradition, then nothing can really happen to stop to attacks going out.
DDoS is indeed very powerful. It isn't necessarily hard to combat, but when it is consistent and with changing types of attack, it simply overwhelms the servers. Think of a highway getting flooded with cars. You can direct traffic to mitigate, but imagine those cars just keep coming and coming, all different types of vehicles at various speeds cramming together.
DDoS attacking is a felony in most countries, which is why you don't see it happening more than it does. It is always people in countries that have no extradition, like Russia or China, so they have no fear of the law. Try to do a DDoS in a country like the USA, and it won't be long until the law is busting your door down with a swat team.
Another issue with DDoS attacks is that they are usually done from infected computers, making it that much harder to filter and mitigate.
FYI, the servers are not owned by Bohemia. Server farms are absurdly expensive and hardly any game studio (or any company in general) has their own servers for their online games/services.
I'm getting the sense that you're a child. Either way, no that's not the answer. You can't just cut all traffic from one place because the traffic is not coming from just one place. It's coming from a botnet, which as I already explained, is a network of hundred of thousands, if not millions of compromised PC's all around the world that are being used to send the traffic. Computer viruses aren't just there to make your PC run slow or give you popups man. Billions of people every day use the internet all over the world and the majority of them aren't tech savvy and don't understand how risky downloading random things can be. These viruses can also spread themselves to machines connect on the same network so imagine an office building for example with hundreds of computers connected to the same network. One person in that company gets an email telling them their boss needs help and they just need to download this pdf file and review it. It looks like it came from their boss so they open it and it's actually a disguised .exe file. That entire office building is now infected with that virus. This happens countless times every single day and it's how these botnets form. It's not as cut and dry as you think it is man. It's really not.
Also, I'm not condoning what the attcker is doing but suggesting that someone be killed for taking down a video game for a couple of weeks is absolutely insane.
Lol all I did was try to give you some sort of understanding on what is actually going on. I bet you're the same type of dude who shoots down logi helis when they don't pick you up.
I think you need to work more on your mental health before worrying about a video game. Listen, I'm just trying to break down why this is happening for those, like yourself, that don't understand what is actually happening. The personal attacks are also incredibly unnecessary. As you said also Russia is a massive country and it's not like the entire country supports what's going on between them and their neighbor right now. Simply put, blacklisting every single russian IP address would be an incredible waste of resources and would do literally nothing to stop the attacks. Russian people do not deserve to be demonized for the actions of their corrupt government leadership but that's another discussion entirely and this is not the place for that discussion.

not everyone wants to take pills to become numb like you brother sorry im human being with real emotions and probably did more time in therapy than you. Started going at 16 on and off and did 3 years of weekly therapy in my early 20s. Mental health in context of what? What if this is mentally healthy for me and because your feelings hurts that a you problem. What if thinking criminals actually deserve to be held accountable is not mental illness and just good policy.
keep hiding in america instead of facing the reality of the world, i love seeing some 18 year kid in xqcs twitch chat crying because hes getting drafted for myanmars war, but that doesnt effect you does it so why care? what about the 18 year old brit that ate an fpv drone on his first mission?" all those parents with their children dying from missile strikes in mariuopol does nothing for you? You think watching that and not getting upset is mentally healthy?
I mean this wholeheartedly and genuinely. I truly hope you can get the help you need sooner than later, please get help.
you have 900 hours + on hatsune miku and you probably think you are women and japanese without even being to read or speak it without google.
stop telling me im mental and need help okay i can turn the tables too.
tell me how do you watch the kids with legs blown of in hospital being cradled by their crying father covered blood and not feel upset? how? and I need therapy?
what if my anger is from being trans would you think that is mental illness too? are you a psychiatrist as well as a professional IT sys admin?
