Arma 3 might not have succeeded...LoL
Arma 3 is just fine, in fact, even though it's almost 12 years old, it still regularly has 10k-20k players.
The Arma series doesn't need crossplay to "save" it.
If I buy it on PC I'll be happy to help balance that out.
I sure hope the terrible state of the map editor isn't a sign of things to come for Arma 4. The workshop alternative doesn't inspire confidence as well.
You have to understand that the primary goal of the new engine is to make all their games multi platform, so they can tap into the console market.
BI does not care about any of the adverse effects making the Arma series multi platform, they only care about entering the console market.
The guy that says cross play will save ARMA has no PC.Has he ever heard of ARMA 3 and the amount of servers STILL generated in that steam game? Apparently they want to add cross-play to ARMA 3. Go ahead kill that game too. You know you are dealing with 10 year old kids with girly voices team killing you and they are unlikely playing on a $4000 to $5000 dollar computers. And if they are playing on dad's account getting banned they will surely regret it.
And, if you say that “RTX2070 and 16 GB of RAM is not enough to run Arma Reforger”… Than you admit that Reforger is extremely poorly optimized. And that it cannot run on the majority of gaming PCs. And sucks both for studio, because less people buy and play, and more people refund the game that doesnt work on their RIG.
So much for trying to dunk on console gamers who also want to play games.
