Why isn't US rifle default full auto? / why do the US suck

Seriously, why isn't it? It's horrible nd garbage semi auto, half matches people tear down arsenals so.. spawn with crappy burst fire rifle, or rush to grab an ak.

Like whats the deal with the us gear, it's awful! ...

Rocket is ass, rifles ass. No BTR or unique heavy armour.

The Soviets have better rocket launchers. LAW can't be compared to the RPG-7. M16 doesn't need to be full auto. It's good as it is. Honestly the Soviet gear looks like they're still in WW2.

Different mindset altogether, in Russia the 'individual' as a tactical unit, how the modern doctrine dictates, was not there untill very very recently, conscripted grunts to be herded with whistles and yells, of little value with small exceptions, much like WW1-2, early cold war era.
However yeah the RPG IS the superior portable launcher.

With high flying helis I sometimes have enough time to shoot them down with a 50 cal as they are passing

oh yeah the 50cals, those def shred those worthless slow heaps of junk.

Only thing I don't like about the default U.S rifle is the iron sights blocking the surrounding view. Apart from that, it hits hard enough. I always pick up a secondary enemy AK and mags as I go and end up with more than enough ammo.

If you need an assault rifle on full auto all the time perhaps you are better off with an MG if that's your play style...

Arsenal is the last thing you need in this game due to, uh, people
M16a2 is a fine rifle brother/Nyet rifle is fine etc
Teamwork and coordination/feedback/comms:these can destroy the most well armed enemy!

And if you play the game correctly, then same as in real life, you will be using semi fire 9 out of 10 times. Same goes for the AK-74.

I like the sights of the AK-74 a lot more than the ones on the M16, but it honestly doesn't make a major difference.

But again, this is how it was back then, its common knowledge that the infantry weapons of the Soviets at the time, were superior to the U.S infantry equipment in many aspects, reaching from anti-tank weapons (RPG) up to the RPK and PKM and even the handgrenades were cheaper to produce and had a wider kill radius.

But as someone else has stated already, this game is all about teamwork, if you have even 3 people coordinated, communicative, attacking a position, they can be a lot more effective using M16 or whatever than Ak, if the AK guys are not coordinated and just spray their targets.

What is also an advantage the Americans have in this game is the camoflague, it actually does make a difference wearing woodland on a map with a lot of forests and bushes than the khaki-oliveish colours and helmet the soviets wear.

But hey, its just a default weapon. You can pick up the M4 and so on and even have red dot scopes, which the soviets do not have. If you properly equip your infantrysoldier on the U.S team, you have a more comfy equipment than any soviet.

Wait until they (hopefully) add West and East Germany of that time, this will bring a new set of weapons, such as the MG3 and G3 rifle, even for vanilla servers.


For everything else, just play on modded servers....

I am German. The G3A3 was a thing before my time, I have only seen it as a DMR in action, otherwise we used the G36.

I am German. The G3A3 was a thing before my time, I have only seen it as a DMR in action, otherwise we used the G36.

MG3 was our MG but that too was before my time, I was there just when it was updated to the m249, a small short version of it even

MG3 was our MG but that too was before my time, I was there just when it was updated to the m249, a small short version of it even

In my eyes the MG3 was always good, but somewhat unhandy, more appropriate for vehicles...

Well now its mostly gone anyway, we are using the HK121.

The reason I never liked the idea of the M249 is, because of the smaller caliber, a machine gun must be able to punch through walls and so on, especially all the clay/mud walls in Afghanistan required the use of the 7,62
