ive shot off the rotors with what felt like very little fire from an AK. imo they are too fragile vs small arms.
But I don't think there is a critical need for AA Launchers ... yet, you havent got a true gunship that'd require it, and the average pilot is flying the transport heli's like this is battlefield, when / if they figure out you can engage from beyond small arms fire range then you'll have a problem, but given the amount of video's and posts showing pilots about 50 meters of the ground doing strafing runs on a contested point and circling around for a 2nd pass without the element of surprise? ... yeah I don't think that's gonna be happening any time soon.
Yeah, these guys are like duck hunting with an LMG. I have also had wholesome times driving an armed jeep around, sticking it in some treeline around contested points and taking helis out from there.
I do actually feel like fewer helis would be a decent thing in general, as their inflated use really devalues them. But there are definitely tactics available to counter their current use.
