Ranks for gear
Shouldn’t be a thing!

It is arma afterall… I want to place mortar and play it and not play for 2-3 hrs on an instable server just to do so.. This is ridiculous.

It takes 20 minutes to get captain running supplies and building a base up.

I don't know what servers you play on, but the ones I play on, you will definitely not be a captain after 20 minutes only, lol.

I played on officials, doing only logi runs, building and so on, you will never end up with the rank of a captain in 20 minues, also because all the annoying NPCs one has to wipe off the map first.

Ranks for gear have nothing to do with what Arma originally aimed at.

Especially not for mortars and once you got a mortar, you also have to unlock explosive shells..sorry but this is just ridiculous and grindy.

Blame the tactical barbies. If people didn't eat up all the supplies on stupid stuff this probably wouldn't have been a problem. I like the change though.

People eat up the supplies either way, despite of ranks for mortars and so on.

This changes nothing...the fact that you never really see an MBT on normal servers, proves that their system is flawed. People can't play what they want.

Yeah 20mins for Cpt is a lie lol.

Fastest way to rank is be there at the start of the match and

1. Grab driver seat of spawned truck
2. Fill up the truck with players to get "Troop Transport" xp
3. Take them from point to point (Stay alive, let them charge in)
4. On your 3rd/4th you should've captured a Main Base, start a few supply runs
5. Don't die through-out this trip

That'll take atleast 45 mins and you'll hit Lieutenant easy, Captain is possible if you get another capture / kills / veteran xp bonus.

45 minutes if its a good run indeed. For a working person like me, 45 minutes is precious time, I should not be forced to do something I dislike or find boring in a game, just to do something I enjoy, this is a logic that does not belong in a video game.

Then they should at least let us use lighter mortars or something along this line...

Bottom line is, TOO MUCH stuff is hidden behind rank now, it sucks and to me is like the game has lost what it was always about, which was accessibility, straight to the point realism oriented gameplay, not grinding items each match to use them. You can't tell me that this is the soul of arma now, lol.

Thank the 360 no scope one man army crowd, BI placed these guard rails at an attempt to keep them contained while still receiving their $$$ but try to not completely alienate the ARMA playerbase meaning this 'techdemo/road to ARMA 4' would die since they'd have absolutely no supplies to spawn with now that you don't run their logistics. Despite how people try to present it never before had BI had to intervene for playerbase so bad that they had to do social media posts interventions like the 'Default Daniel' campaign then lock up the arsenal altogether behind a mechanic. The result is: You get to only run supplies every single session and nothing else, cause barely anyone wants to do it, or take turns or whatever, and be told that you should be happy to do it every single session cause 'be the change you want to be' and 'don't let your dreams be dreams, find/host your own server, there's teamwork players somewhere out there *que X-files theme* you only have to pay even more money to find them/play something other than conflict which is the only mode being religiously played atm.

What Opium are you huffing, I'm a logistic main and I only hit Captain for the 1st time ever post 1.3 this afternoon and that was in the last 15 minutes of a 7 hour long ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ match - I had built up multiple bases and done an untold amounts of troop transports and logi runs constantly throughout that match, with only 1/5 of my playtime in that match max being engaging in combat. This is unhinged and unacceptable.

maybe this isnt the game for you? maybe try squad, or battlefield. those dont focus on the milsim part of the game and has fast paced action through and through, reforger isnt for everyone.

I work so I don't always have dedicated arma days, those days I van only spare an hour I accept my fate as a simple grunt, other days I can take part in the 'grind'. Its not ideal, not even close but this sh1t was put in place by BI precisely of uncooperative people like supply abusers and the fact the low quality of the playerbase which is a mismatch of people addicted to twitchy shooters/solos and actual team players means the players can't manage their own team efficiently due to ego and 'don't tell me how to play'. It sucks and it's no good but I rather play 45 minutes with some coherence than end up disapppointed rather than entertained after a match is downgraded to a gta online lobby with tk's and people thinking they are entitled to single man jeeps. It sucks and the players made it suck tho
This is just in the Conflict mode which is designed for a more competitive PvP milsim like a squad match.



There is still Game Master and Custom servers.
Easy fix: Make ranks persistent but a bit harder to get, and introduce battle phases. The longer a match takes, the more content will automatically unlock. That way you don't get mortars straight away, but do get them if the match turns stale and random noobs still won't be able to use them.
