CPU Spikes

I recently put a new PC together. 9800x3d, 64gb Ram, 5080. Game is installed an M.2 NVME.

I have this constant issue where the game frequently tops out the CPU to 100%, freezes gameplay and then returns to normal after about 5-8 seconds.

Drivers are all up to date and I'm starting to exhaust my options.

Is there any available fix or something to check?

trying locking your fps to a certain number, like 60, if it fixes this, go for 70, and so on.

It can be server issues and won't matter what pc u got

I forgot to mention, this is the only game where i have an issue and Benchmarks are totally fine.

I will try locking FPS.

I have to admit, i usually only go on one Reforger server, so it could be that.

Wouldn't hurt to try another server that runs a lot of mods so you can do a stress test so to speak.

Here is a High FPS wcs style server you can test your rig on and it does have mods.

I have the same issue. I have the 9800x3d as well. It freezes my entire PC and not just reforger. Occasionally I would get a crash for "gpu hang" and according to the reforger tracker, it is a known issue. I am unsure if the two correlate or not but I have not found a fix after looking for quite a while.

It doesn't matter the server, the frame lock, settings, etc. from any of my tests.

same thing happening to me, got the same rig as you other than gpu, i see it on task manager when it happens it just spikes to 100 once or twice and freezes everything. All my other games work perfectly fine seems to be something with this game.

when i go back on unmodded servers sometimes they run fine....

it looks to be an issue with mods i crash way less then before the fix but the drops still happen

I've removed any mods and i got a session without any issues.

Updating the bios to the latest 3/10/25 (7E12v1H2(Beta version) version fixed it for me as well with the chipset

Be very careful with that. Its not the game and the bottleneck on the game is usually always the GPU since the engine has ancient solutions to render stuff.

Check your temps. Try updating your BIOS like one guy suggested.

Locking your frames should not help since your CPU should be pretty bored most of the time, since it’s the GPU bottlenecking it even if you would have a RTX 5090 while rendering in 1080p.

Do you have any hardware monitoring software active such as Afterburner? If you do, disable it. All of it, and see if it goes away.
