You should be targeting medium then turn on fidelity fx then on top of that put resolution scale slider down to 85%. Then you will get decent fps, but I would recommend starting at 1440p. If you run at 4k you can drop the res scale down to 70% that will get you close to 1440p but a little higher. You need to flip on fidelity fx + res scale slider lower it or you won't get a fps boost.
However, in fairness, a good gaming experience can be had if you are prepared to put up with the flaws, bugs and issues during the development. I mostly enjoy the game, but I don't advice casual players to fall for the hype.
Who exactly asked for your opinion about the game ? Let me show you what we are talking about in this post, because you seem to lack basic reading comprehension. What is this mixed feelings bs anyway ? "i mostly enjoy the game but for some reason i need to talk ♥♥♥♥ about it so new people don't play it ?!" Dude we want fresh people in the Arma community. I'm sick of the bacon patrol tactical barbies who would've made seals if it wasn't for that knee...
anyway
I have a 3080 non ti 10gb, r7 5800 x3D, 32 gb 3600 mhz / cli 14 ram and getting around 90 - 70 fps in 1440p high, native. It is a pretty stable experience, aside from desync issues and those are not hardware related.
I've played Arma 3, i've played on 35 fps servers... this game is better optimized than arma 3 ever was and the new engine works well with calculations you need for the AI.
Reforger is a testament to the Arma community and the modders in particular. They take the skeleton and put meat on it. Always has been like that for every Arma game and a Veteran (which you seem not to be) knows that.
Try and control your emotional instability. Try and engage with what I posted rather than a comment you have imagined. Try not take my comment personally and try to understand it wasn't directed at you. The OP compared Arma Reforger to a fully released game and I was simply providing context.
Here's what Bohemia themselves have said about Arma Reforger
"Arma 4 however, will be released as an independent title and will build on all the lessons learned from Arma Reforger."
"Arma Reforger allows our community to experience the future of the Arma platform, now. When planning to rebuild from scratch on the Enfusion engine, we decided to first tackle a smaller project to learn the ins and outs of the new technology and release something to the community sooner in preparation for the next, full-fledged Arma installment."
"Arma Reforger is an opportunity to shape the development of the Enfusion technology and to test how the console audience reacts to a game like Arma, which offers something not seen in any other console game. Furthermore, it allows modders to use our new engine firsthand, now, to be able to create content in Workbench and give their feedback, and for us to improve their modding experience in Arma 4."
"Developing the Enfusion engine with the aim to deliver Arma 4 is Bohemia's top priority at the moment."
OP LITERALLY SAID ITS NOT WISE TO COMPARE THE TWO GAMES
Again, work on your reading comprehension...
You disregard all that I've said to copy and paste a statement from bohemia everyone read by now. WE KNOW WHAT REFORGER IS you sad little lonely Muppet....
Arma needs less of your types. Either stand by your word and stop playing the game because it sucks or stfu... you don't get to ♥♥♥♥ talk the game so others don't buy it while your drama diva ass is playing it.
unsubbing from this. You disgust me.
Quite the emotional tsunami - are you okay sister? I'll file this under ' disturbed individual ' and will endeavour to provide trigger warnings in future. During the meanwhile, I suggest you use the block feature, or at least have your meds on stand by.
It barely looks good. Not impressive either.
And lets be honest, nobody cares if you game simulates some super duper tree sway in real time if it looks like crap.
Foliage most of the time is ArmA 2 alike, shaders are quite simple, there is no rain shader effect applied to the surfaces even, it just changes specular values.
Ground rocks and cliffs dont blebd with terrain, they just exist on top of surface like its 2000s title.
There is no tide simulation for water surface, all animations lack blending, they are very snappy.
Inverse Kinematics is a standard for human motion in games which is poorly implemented here and looks bad.
Characters dont have outfit affected by wind, it looks very static. Even MGS3 had that figured out in 2004, but Bohemia still slacking.
Gunplay is still serverside based, weapons loose rpm based on your fps.
I could go on and on, you get my point.
The game is absolutely suffering in the performance department. The new destruction system will not help matters at all.
Bohemia needs to understand that if they want to maintain a larger audience, then making the game run on as many systems as possible goes hand in hand with the concept. When Bohemia launches that mythical 4th title, its reception will be decided in no small part by performance.
Even the most die hard fans of recent games have slammed things such as the latest MH release for poor performance metrics. And while there is always an army of apologist die-hards that will maintain that 20 FPS during a firefight is the "Arma experience", most players will simply refund the game if that's the case.
We don't want that, Bohemia does not want that, nobody wants that. So its best to be honest about the performance being lacking so it can be as curtailed as much as possible, for this game and that elusive sequel on the distant horizon.
