If that's true, then they better ban RHS: Status Quo, because they have a donation page.
BI don't ban to spite the playerbase.

if a mod/server etc gets "taken down" it'll be because they broke T&Cs etc.

You need to be grumpy at the rule breakers not BI.

it's not a random occurrence.

well you see they banned this specific mod because it angered the russians and caused the DDOS

While yes this specific mod did break the rules however stupid the rules may be, Unfortunately BI is not enforcing these rules equally

preventing players from being scammed by jits is not "stupid," and there is still no evidence other than ukrainian claims that Russians did anything to the servers a month ago. Still wondering why the first report of the "russian hackers" said they had "stop the war" on their page. Ukrainians for $1000.

the mods aren't that good to begin with; I do like more content, but half these mods are half baked asset bloatware, and that's before you consider worthless trash like a 126mb RSSAS addons that delay people queuing.

what are you babbling about? how is a optional donation a scam and the russians admitted to ddos
In general i won't pay for a mod but I see nothing wrong in allowing donations, as long as not doing so wont curtail/cripple any aspect, even if it's slot availability.

buying a "coffee" for a dev is cool even an uber expensive "coffe", but to have to pay to play, imho, isn't something I'll ever pay for, indeed I'll strap on my false leg and stick a parrot on my shoulder to avoid.

Yes but they do ban mods to protect their ass

they legit banned all of the Fallout Mods
As a whole, When they didn't violate anything

It was one or two mods that stole assets or privatized their mod and they decided to nuke the whole Fallout community.

Which is all within fair use and custom content.
They did this in Arma 3
There was a big kerfuffle within the community over it and here they are doing it again
*scorched earth to save their butt
i dont see why banning copyrighted content is bad, though? like if you dont ban it you can literally get sued for hundreds of billions of dollars. it isn't BI's fault, it's the entire world copyright system's fault

Yes, hundreds of billions of dollars. I just searched "Star Wars" in the Arma 3 workshop and 8,000 entries popped up.
and? some companies like copyright striking stuff more than others.

either way, it violates both US and international law to host copyrighted content. all of that stuff is, by all technicality, illegal if it doesn't have a license, and all of it can (and by law, should, though i disagree) be banned.
