why can you guys never make vehicles right?
Serious question. Every single arma game always has really jank, not well made vehicles.

Why is it that if you go up and down on a slight incline when going like 30-40kp/h does the vehicle spazz out, fly everywhere, go airborne then just like lock back into position on the road insinuating you sped out when on your screen you're like 20 feet into the air.

why are the jeeps/russian vehicles so bouncy? its like driving a trampoline, honestly not very fun and very agitating when you get propelled into a tree from a small incline.

there currently are 4 iterations if you don't include the differing arma series, and yet these devs simply cannot get vehicles right. why? whats the deal? are we going to see this continued in the 5th iteration of the series? every other game dev seems to have no issue getting this right, yet you guys seem totally incapable.

don't get me wrong, they're better than A1, A2 and definitely A3, but are we going for "most improved vehicle mechanics" or are we going for "functional, objectively well made vehicles" I would want the latter.

thx for coming to my angry ted talk.

The Arma games have always had these half-baked realism issues, mixed with communication problems between the server and client sides.
Many things within Arma suffer from this lack of polish. I think the cars are particularly affected by this—the handling is good, but the stability and suspension are terrible and completely unrealistic for such heavy vehicles. It really makes it seem like the tires are made of balloons.
Another point that bothers me is the game's sound design, which was developed to sound realistic, but in practice, it falls quite short.

I agree, the suspension is strange for what you drive in the game in vanilla.

I havent had any issue with the sound thats made me hate it any more than i hate tarkov though? I suppose the pin pointing of direction of shots can be misleading sometimes.

you forgot one important point maximum steering angle is only 180°degrees in either direction wich is kinda annoying tbh no single vehicle on earth ever had such a small maximum turn radius

Totally agree with OP the vehicles are not good, very buggy , lets be real here they need a fix , so many players on multiplayer are crashing these manky vehicles that tip over on the slightest thing . Seem there is no weight to these machines .

I don’t think you mean 180 degrees in either direction as that would be 360 degrees.

IRL a vehicle has roughly 45 degrees steering in either direction. So not sure what you mean.

Only thing i noticed was last night the truck my mate was driving couldn't make it up from the road onto what I would call a small bump, and on to the field we were going to cross. It really needed a run up to get up a minor 3 foot slope, on to a flat field. It did seem very unrealistic.

i think some mediation between server and client for driving would see the most immediate improvements.

i also think turning down the springy-ness of the suspension isn't a terrible idea, not a whole lot but just enough so that going over small inclines doesn't become like a Mario double jump.

I do think the handling in the current state of the game is the best we've had yet, but there are just still some things that other competitors are just simply doing better, that can be improved without detracting realism.

your statement contradicts itself; the vehicles absolutely have weight to them, to the point of losing control quickly.

I've crashed many times, and it can be pretty frustrating, but try learning how to not shift-w the vic, and you'll find you crash way less. Achieving max speed in a full logi downhill where you know there is a sharp bend is an easy way to get ♥♥♥♥♥♥; just don't do that.

This game does have a serious issue regarding flight vehicles. It seems that anything not classified as a helicopter bugs out as soon as you get any sort of air; the triple teleport crash phenomena pretty much happens as a result of your ground vic losing contact with the ground. It's like the server and the client are struggling to communicate exactly where the vehicle is until you touchdown again, so you just bug out until that happens. If you end up slamming into a tree or rock in that time, that's just how it is.

Other than that, it really is just a skill issue; try driving more realistically aka use your brakes frequently to hit a turn, bend or any adjustment on the road. It doesn't have to be a complete stop, just a slight brake every time you adjust, or approach terrain that slightly changes elevation.

I don't play car games typically, but my experience with vehicles in game like this comes from things like Squad, Hell let loose, and foxhole. This game is very fun to drive in, as long as you aren't doing something stupid to ram into a tree. All those other games have ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HORRIBLE driving mechanics (spoken as a person who mastered those games' driving).

i mean like i said before, it's the best we have had in an arma series but they definetly need to fix the client-server communication problems. It literally cannot be relegated to "thats just how it is"

Try to drive at 40mph on bad road in real life. You will see what is happening.
