the game runs silky smooth, then crashes, its not the computer its the game
On my old setup (3600+2060) wasn't so good. really poor actually.
Disconnects, more, but not THAT many. It is an issue, but if you look at the changelogs, you can see that some of these are related to some REALLY random stuff (like dropping itens doing that, or leaving doors like this), so it doesn't bother me to much. It is frustrating tho;
Netcode is all over the place and tied to server performance. Playing with 150ms is quite bad sometimes, but most of the times it works (trading shots with strafing people is hell). Seems to be more stable on the newest experimental, but it still "lags" way behind:
I have no problem whatsoever connecting to any server I try to (I mostly play on official NA servers), I believe most of this type of issue is related to your service provider.
and again, upgrade your system then talk about crashes and bad fps. As i said, game is bad, your system too
gtx 1660 super (according to a website) is about the same ish processing power as an rtx 2060
In March i bought a budget pc with a RTX4060 for around EUR500. Still use the same 1440p screen. Playing arma in native 1440p on mix of medium/high now at 70fps but with drops to 55 during fights. It's aight.
But if i could do it over, i would definitely pick some medium range pc with a RTX4070S inside. So i could turn on all the bells and whistles and have more fps simultaniously.
The 1440p monitor is still my preferable sweet spot.
NEITHER of those are related to my pc and the mp works on another bohemia game (dayz)
you know that card is way above the recommended GPU and has much newer technology right? and also, I said 1080p which is MORE THAN ENOUGH for that GPU for 60 FPS, in most games, you can put the settings on the highest and have over 60 FPS, on this game, high settings, 40 FPS, ♥♥♥♥ around and find out.
Try going to low graphic settings @ 1080p (or lower 960p or 720p) and see if the crashes continue.
I have a 5700x, 32gb ddr4 and a 4060ti 16gb, i haven't had any crashes in 25hrs but i agree this game needs optimisation.
At 1440p, high graphics settings getting between 80fps dropping to low 40s at times, not a smooth experience.
I settled on 1080p, medium graphics settings and the fps is between 140fps down to around 100fps.
As you can see my pc is abit more powerful than yours and you are trying to run the game at the same settings as me.
Run a monitoring software so you can see what is happening with the hardware.
I recommend HWInfo. The software you choose should graph and log so you can see in real time, and after the game is done.
This will help you see the stress on the whole system and what is bottle necking and causing issues.
I would take all the settings and the draw distance down really low, and see if that is more stable.
With this and the above suggestion, you should be able to see what is going on.
Failing getting your rig working correctly, if an upgrade is not in the budget right now, I would recommend temporarily using Geforce Now and playing so you can play a little easier.
This game is far from fully optimized, but even fully optimized, there is a lot going on, and that will always stress a system.
This is why Arma 3 averages around 30 FPS for most people.
haven't had a game crash that i remember but the connection issues are back.
Why is it the game and not your system? Because its happening to you? We literally went 8 straight hours last night on our server with zero issues playing experimental. So out of the players we had, all with different systems, and none having issues, it is not even feasible to believe that your system could not be part of the problem. That does not mean the game is not part of the issue but if it were strictly the game then everyone would be experiencing the same thing you are, and they are not.
Really only two choices... accept the game as it is now and see if the problem gets corrected from BIs side, or start methodically troubleshooting on your end starting with simple things like no OC of CPU or RAM. If you have 4 sticks of RAM, remove two. Swap out the pair if issue continues. If you have multiple drives, move the game to a different drive. There are quite a few things you can try from your end that don't take much effort.
A good start is listing detailed system specs.
i run the game on a gtx 1080 @1080p gsynced, it runs for me on mixed custom mid/high settings with 60+fps (depending Map and how many stuff happens) no harsh drops or anything.
Looks decent and feels smooth.
Everything that runs on a actual Gen Xbox and PS i can play easy with my setup but the time will come Soon™ for a upgrade.
