i prefer it to those games as its easier to solo or casual play.
but do remember/know that Reforger isnt a full game per se, rather a step on the path to a full game.
in reforger i can really take as much time as i need to assist with taking a target/location/objective.
in other games im far more limited in my approach.
if u gonna play arma, dont play on offical servers, only community moded servers
This is why you find most players cling to the community servers and missions as the base content is a showcase to show people what Arma can do.
What you find as a result is Arma is quite versatile and can offer many varied experiences outside of your typical game of conquest such as RP and even a DayZ mod.
I used to play Project Reality (based on the BF2 engine 10+ years ago). I have been looking for a replacement game for YEARS that is fun to play with friends, is not as complex as ARMA3 (normal mode) and not a childish shooter like BF5 or any other 1st person game pretending to be a tactical simulator.
As in ALL of these games, it is not the game that makes the play - it is the community playing on the server. I play with folks that take tactics seriously, so we love Reforger. The AI is pretty good if the Game Master set up the server with some forethought. Communications in game are not the greatest, but if you have good squad leaders that follow orders and players that don't run off shooting like Castle Wallenstein - your golden.
I think ARMA Reforger is a great platform for a community to build around. If you play with random folks with ZERO leadership it is just another shooter game. We play with tactics, communication and teamwork, so Reforger has been great fun.
I would recommend finding a community to play with that is somewhat serious and the game will seem much better. It is designed to make you play as a team otherwise it is too much to do alone.
Feel free to come join us if you would like to try Reforger with some folks that try to put tactics and communication ahead of getting a lot of kills and short term gratification.

I really dont like SQUAD for betraying its own franchies, but still think SQUAD and Hell Let Loose both are the better games because the FPS part of these games works as intended.
In Reforger it does not. If someone tells you otherwise they probably arent capeable of realizing how bad the hitreg is. These folks usually blame my internet (got 1 GB/s glas-fibre) or my PC (CPU runs on 6 Ghz, rtx 4080, RAM that runs on 5 Ghz, everything installed on an M.2). Some people arent smart enough to understand technical issues.
