This awful pile of ♥♥♥♥ is really not for solo players. You can not adjust the difficulty, you can not save a game, it's just awful.

I also play solo at times and I do just fine. A lot of sniper work and I role play being behind enemy lines and just staying undetected.

If I play as a rifleman it makes things a lot. It's difficult because I'm always outgunned. All in all I still have a good time.

I've been having fun solo with the Combat Ops missions. It can be challenging but you go slow. There are two default ones that are both pretty good.

You can also download several solo missions.

if I play MP then I almost always solo or go "rambo".

As others point out sniping is the way forward or, if the server supports it, suppressed weapon infiltration.

The AI can sometimes/often instantly locate you which can be tough but there's hours of fun in solo play, especially if you actively support others operations.
