15 years old, playing Operation Flashpoint on my crappy Celeron PC with no dedicated GPU, the game ran poorly, but it made sense.

23 years old, playing ARMA 2 on my mid-range HD4870 equipped PC, game runs poorly but I guess it's doing more and it looks better.

28 years old, playing ARMA 3 on my top of the line GTX780. Game runs poorly, but hey, it's ARMA3 and it's amazing

39 years old, still playing ARMA 3, this time on a RTX4080 + 9800X3D. Game still runs poorly. Hmm.

Almost 40, bought ARMA Reforger, RTX4080 + 9800X3D. Still runs like ♥♥♥♥.

Some things aren't bound to change in my life time. The performance of Bohemia Interactive games is one of them.

This games has some really cool features, but the community is kind of confused as to what type of game this is. the game is build like a mil sim, but people play it like battlefield. there is no teamwork to speak of, no medics, no support roles, nothing. devs allowed everyone to choose whatever kit they want so everyone is a sniper with an RPG.

on top of that the game feels unfinished. the cal doesn't have a reload animation, they don't have joystick support, an the controls are painfully slow.

the game doesn't show you or your squad mates location by default, meaning unless you play modded you'll spend half the game trying to find yourself on the map. the game has a weird server to server exp system so you need to rank up to get better guns. finally there either aren't enough players or there aren't enough servers. if you play during peak hours ever server with a decent connection has a 20 person que, and if you play off peak hours its a struggle to find a mostly full server.

TLDR: if you want to play nothing but mods go for it. but if you are expecting any kind of team play just go get squad.
