You have 270 time slots per play through
I believe this is the number of time where you can perform an action, including the tutorials provided throughout the weeks (open shop, travel, rank-up, hangout, etc.). This doesn't include the extra 2 slots per overnight since you can't do anything besides finishing the day, although it accumulates towards brewing, gardening, and adventure wait slot.

Also the competition days (there are 5 I believe) don't count since they are in fact "unplayable" except for the competition haggling itself.

Given that each day you are given 6 slots and also counts the fact that some actions take 2 slots, the essence of this game is indeed math! And like math, it induces planning anxiety since you have to plan a lot to maximize your time efficiently.

Use your time wisely!
Let me know what you think.

270 effective ones, since you have 45 days total, with 6 slots per day, for a grand total of 270. But since you'll be leaving the shop here and there, I'd say you have an effective 240-ish? You're not going out every single day.
And like you said, you get a bonus 2 every night for heroes and potions brewing, which can't be used for anything else, but it's still pretty neat.
About the planning anxiety.. I'm not so sure. I see a lot of complaints about how hard the game is, how difficult it is to beat it, and so on.. When less than 15% of people actually played the game past week 1. By lategame, when you reach day 41, get the best cauldron available to you.. The entire week can be spent socializing, if you're late on it, and you'll still have free time (considering you have a good gift-giving plan).

Indeed, I cashed out everything by day 30-ish, spent the rest of 40s experimenting. If we include the night time, I guess we'll have maximum 360 slots (not including the free 8s from each competition). And about the planning anxiety... It's actually fun to go through the hardships of week 1 and 2, guess it's not applicable to me. But yeah, pretty much the late game is kinda "easy".

I really liked how tense the first two weeks were, actually. Played through on release, so still with the old bosses, and I didn't have that much trouble with any of them? (I even instantly won with both my potions on day 20 when I made said potions on day 11, oops), but the lack of money was getting a bit nerve-wracking at first, I won't lie.

I read somewhere that it was tough pre-patch (I played after patch). Honestly, I'm curious.

I beat the entire game pre-patch, and honestly? It really wasn't difficult. I feel like the majority of people just.. Didn't read the tutorials. It's genuinely not difficult to make potions and haggle for them to be worth more than the opponent's.

I love posts like this. "I didn't have a problem so obviously no one should and anyone who does is just stupid and didn't read instructions and doesn't know how to play"

Apparently you're unaware of the RNG factor in this game, so allow me to inform you: it is entirely possible to read all the instuctions and play the game correctly and still fail because the RNG didn't feel like letting you get the correct ingredients to make your potion good enough through absolutely no fault of your own.

Hope this helps your snide attitude, but I doubt it will.

I never said anyone who had trouble was stupid, and that was not my intention at all. I didn't have any issues, and have talked to quite a few people who didn't.
When opening discussions of people failing the first week five times, I started to wonder if maybe I had it easy, but either RNG was really bad for them, or it was really good for.. 80% of people who played the game?

I am well aware of the RNG factor, and like I keep saying, the first week can be a bit of trouble if you're not that lucky with drops, the second one kind of stabilizes the difficulty curve, and starting week 3, it gets absolutely stomped by the mechanics introduced later on.

Once again, not saying people having trouble are stupid.
However when you see the outrageous number of people baffled by how you don't sell the potions on the display shelves, or don't understand what they even do in the first place.. When the tutorial on day 4 explicitly says "Place potion on display. It's not sellable! But it draws shoppers. The more value? The more customers!", I think it's more than fair to question if they actually read what the game tells them.
