Oh my god thankyou! I was giving him just a little squid every time no wonder he hates me ;_; I'm gonna play through again and try to give better presents.
Always give some gifts if you can, ideally pure mana - it's not that good for potions anyway. You can upgrade your rank once per day during your morning trip, and then sell potions twice, so you should do that. This will get you 27 (?) rank increases during the first three weeks, where you should play "normally" and focus on selling stuff. For the last 18 days, you'll need to use 63 rank ups.
Once you unlock the slimes, abuse the hell out of them. You can use slimes to dupe your pure mana. The best one I had was mana conflagration. 3 mana conflagrations (drop 1, feed 2) -> 7 mana conflagrations. And you can have 5 slimes. Yeah, it's kinda broken.
Since then, gift mana conflagrations (or other best pure mana you have) all the time. At day 41, switch to pure mana from the last zone. It seems to be better.
Somewhere at day 35 I had 200+k gold, so I've stopped selling potions altogether and just spent all the time socializing. Remember that you'll need to brew 2 potions for rank 10, so prepare a variety of superior potions in advance. If you are short on money, I think you should be able to dump potions into the autoseller and not waste any time slots with that, but I've never tried that.
Gifting pure mana from the moment you unlock slimes is good enough, but ideally you should gift something every day prior to that.
Never hang out, wastes time. Just bribe with gifts non-stop.
I suspect this system is not unlike the gardening slimes. Give them an ingredient of the type and "rank" they like, you get a bonus, but it also counts the total magimin so pure mana would likely work just as well. Since the game has plenty of each ingredient type with magimin distribution that makes little sense for potions, and also getting high ranks early gives you discounts and better cards for your deck, in the long term it's more profitable to give them valuable ingredients that you don't typically use.
Thanks, I had wondered whether that was even worth doing.
And hanging out is nice for the little stories. :)
You can always hang out when you've done maxing all the relationships, as there's pretty much nothing else to do at that point. Possibly even make a save at day 49 to check out all the hang out content.
But if you're juggling 10 people even that's gonna be hard to manage. I'm gifting mana right now that's worth I think 160 something magimins at the late levels and it takes two of those to level up so two days per person per level. Also where are people getting all these pure mana from before they get enough slime plants to cultivate them? They're expensive to buy and quinn usually only stocks one of each per day.
Prior to that, you can use something cheap. I didn't start with "optimized mindset" and just gifted whenever I felt like it, and still managed to max them all, so optimizing your gifts from day 1 not required. Just gift "something".
P.S. I think zone is more important than Magimins. Mana Conflagration has more magimins than the last zone Pure Mana, but these seemed to be more efficient, so I've switched to them.
