I assume most people went for Roxanne or Xid (which is understandable), though I'm a bit sad Mint isn't getting the support she deserves.
I've seen most of the lover rank 10s by now, and they've all been great!
And since romance doesn't do anything, mechanics-wise, just go for whoever you like the most, we're not judging!
Honestly, the characters are so well done and incredibly animated/designed I'd play a dating sim/visual novel spin off of this game even without any of the potion crafting + shop management.
Even if I romance Baptiste?
He's also handsome, charming, reasonable, and unafraid to be dumb person in the room like the question about the scorpions and the whipped cream in his boots.
He sounds like a fantastic lover.
Why are we forced to be monogamous? This is a fantasy game, written in modern times. Quinn is a bit androgynous (when I played the demo I was sure they were female) and their pronouns are they/them...
Why can't Sylvia be Poly? :/
Yeah, his story line reflects that. I thought he was just some super rich noble that lives another dimension of the world, but turns out he wasn't.
Actually, despite all of character starts from some stereotypes and cliche, as you go through their story, they all have their own unique tales to tell.
And the ice cream store is in good business. I will not surprise if they turned out to be a landlord.
And if this had been an RPG where we could build our own characters, no doubt I would have gone for Saffron first, she's my typical kind of romance option.
But honestly? They all seem pretty great! All the characters are very well done, and as you progress their relationship you start to see various ways in which they all click with Sylvia (and are very interesting / endearing / attractive on their own), and since I'm having plenty fun with the game I plan to replay enough times to romance each and every one of them.
(Still wishing Boss Finn was also an option, though)
As someone who's both polyamorous and agonizes over who to go with in this game, I'm still not sure I want this. There's more to being poly than just dating/sleeping with whoever you want. It's a complicated thing to handle both narratively and systemically, and if it was implemented in the most obvious way, where you just turn the check off that locks out other relationships and called that 'polyamory', I think it would feel lazy, pandering, or both.
It would have been a nice touch if, in the main story, your lover/friends were more implicated. As is, they only appears in "side stories" (expect Baptiste).
BTW the Saffron romance was a bit sad. I mean, yes it ends nicely in the game, but as Saffron said she will live longer than Sylvia and will eventually see her decline and end up alone again. :(
100% agree. If they went the easy way and just "unlocked" the possibility to romance everyone as is, it would feel more like a bug than anything else. In order to make it feel "intended", you would have to create scenes implying all lovers with every combination possible, which is 2^10 - 1 (no lover) - 10 (the "mono" scenes) = 1013 scenes, even more if you want to respect the order of your second lover discovering your first lover etc.
Good luck with that. A nice intern project though.
gotta sell pots, time is money
