the protag is a specific character, so that don't really have a reason to make an alternate character, as its a narrative driven game
Of course, usually the people with sexism mindset will want to hide behind "I just want to give constructive opinion" or "Extra option always good"
you don't see people asking for female geralt, you very much see people ask for male alloy.
these threads are always bad faith by their nature.
Thanks for the laugh @I like tasty melons 🤣 At this point, I'd rather believe that people crying for male "representation" when a game only offer a female protag is a troll and not real.
The only thing I want is being able to dress the protag of this game in other outfits (gimme my witchy robe and hat!!)
There's nothing wrong with wishing for a game to have a male and female protagonist, but only incels would be so insecure and pathetic to refuse to enjoy a game just because the protagonist is a woman.
This topic is by no mean offensive.
It's not like it was "it *should* have a male character" or "forcing me to play a female character annoys me", or whatever the level of your reactions.
It's just a suggestion like any other. Yes it's a duplicate, like more than half topics in this forum or any other forum. The filtering and sorting options or the game difficulty options, just to mention 2 of them.
That said.
Despite @zero could have prevent themselves from writing their first sentence, their answer is right.
The game tells the story of Sylvia, the niece of a dead uncle that has to pay his debt off in order to not end up in a cardboard box for... quite some time. She happens to be female, and that's about it.
Making a sex swap option just for the sake of having the choice would make little to no sense; the story was written like this, and it would require a significant amount of work in order to adapt the story accordingly. It would feel like we just try to "fill the gap" without effort.
If there was the introduction of a male character, it would make more sense if it was a brand new story settled in Rafta rather than reusing the existing one.
It could be a new setting as well, like playing a hero that has to help Sylvia in order to save Rafta from whatever menace; still a deck builder but to defeat monsters. It would be a nice addition if we saw the choices we made with Sylvia as well, like seeing her partner involved in the main story, and being able to romance a character still "available".
But a simple sex swap would be bland. This game with Sylvia is great as is, and should remain the same as long as we follow her story.
And I do hope we will have more of her story! One way or another. :)
