With the sales and player numbers this game has i very much doubt any "future" games will be made.
This has worse numbers then True Colors which already was considered a disappointment by Square Enix.
And this game took way more time and budget to make.
If they cared so much about creating a "universe", then they should have found a way to incorporate Alex from True Colors into the game. Not just randomly hand out powers to whoever apparently experienced a "traumatic event". You'd have to give then almost EVERYONE by the end of this game powers, since almost ALL of them almost got their brains fried by Safi.
It has just 500 players more than True Colors at its peak according by SteamDB numbers, but I assume Square was expecting a little bit more than being barely higher than TC, considering the marketing hyped up the return of Max Caulfield, the iconic protagonist of the original game.
People already pointed out that the game sales fell off a cliff in less than a week on the Steam world charts, on top of being the lowest rated LiS game by both critics and audiences. We don't have clear console numbers, but it might not do too high there as well if the Steam relase is an example to look at.
