As a standalone title, how is the writing?
Has it improved since the original overall? :)

Sincerely? worse than the original...

Sub used Safiya, the last chapter was horrible for her, they pushed her to be something she isn't.

Moses is a tofu, he doesn’t stink or smell, bland as a bad beer.

They "killed" Chloe character with poorly made excuses, half a dozen poorly written dialogues.

The relationship with Max's parents does not exist.

The few things i liked about the writing of this game are the completely secondary characters and plots that up until the 4th chapter are good, but the 5th chapter (final) for me ruins the experience.

Liked Amanda, Vinh, Gwen, Lucas and Maya they are good characters.

Max overall is a win, really liked her motivations besides the "chloe situation".

This game would work much better if they hadn't "ruined" Safi in the last chapter, I would even write a positive review, but after they did it... I gave up.

The writing is on par with the other DECK NINE LiS games for the first 2-3 chapters.
Then everything falls apart and becomes a complete clownshow of bad writing, bad acting and a terrible ending.

Pretty good for the most part, but it takes a bit of a nose dive starting in episode 4 and 5.

Your kidding?

The acting in 4 and 5 is top tier in gaming history.

Or they just focused on apsects that didn't go your way.

In fact, while I really don't like the soft cliffhanger, I can say though it wasn't forced.

They closed Max's character development and the Caledon conspiracy very well.

Oh that's not my issue, it's the marvel avenger's copy paste/Safi over the top villain stuff with the only motivation being that she's power hungry like Thanos or something/"We're just going to keep going with Max and not close that" that I really didn't like writing wise. I didn't like the ending choice either, it basically didn't make much of a difference choosing either or. I also don't like that her powers aren't really being kept a secret anymore, which kind of sucks for her character arc, even though it was a trade off that had to be made, as well as the whole "others having powers stuff" which is fairly interesting in concept, but it really should be with more established characters that had a larger focus, or better yet characters of the past for this to really work. It also felt more and more like the game was copying Life is Strange 1's episode 5 which I found incredibly distracting. And there was some loose plot holes here too, but I guess that'll be addressed in the sequel, or DLC that is confirmed to happen based on the ending.

Safi is more of an anti hero more than a villain.

And the final episode counterpoints LIS's final episode.

No, Before The Storm is.

By far the worst in the series.
