HOW TO HIDE MODDED SERVERS?

every server I join installs some rediculous awful mod that totally changes my main menu and it really sucks. how do i HIDE all these dumb servers and just play vanilla original ET?

I went to settings and turned off allow downloading from servers or whatever its called
and...
yeah i cant find a single server that doesnt require you to download hundreds of files of mods that totally change the game .

its so sad that old games are plagued and ruined by this nonsense.
CS 1.6 as well ruined the same way.
we cant just play the ORIGINAL games they were intended to be played, its always these garbage servers full of 'tweaks' and hacks and crap mods... sad!

You're 100% right. I joined a few servers, same thing happened, so I said ♥♥♥♥ it and just downloaded ET Legacy again.

From there, you can either filter the server browser so only ETLegacy servers with humans show up or simply check https://et.trackbase.net/serverlist/order/players/desc/ to see which servers are full of humans. The popular ones are gonna be fairly vanilla and not mess up your game.

Hope that helps, I'm still getting accustomed myself.

If anyone finds any such (unmodded) servers in Europe I would appreciate it if you shared their specific names / IP addresses. Perhaps it would be a good idea to build and share a list of such servers because I am also not keen on altered menu systems, random sounds copied from other games, etc.

Like, Kritzburgh shared above you, just play on ET Legacy instead of default ET. You won't have any issues finding vanilla servers, and modded ones can't change your menus there.

install ET:Legacy, it has fixed the issue with servers modifying main menu

Have fun. Also if you want to be able to launch it through Steam and track your hours and stuff, just download the binaries version of Legacy, drop the files into your current ET installation folder, then rename ETL.exe to ET.exe (and remove the original one). Now when you launch the game, it'll instead start ET Legacy automatically.

I know - it was one of the first things I did :) Thanks for the tip though!

Ok, this is disgusting. I loved this game. I have played countless hours. This and RTCW.

But this stuff with the 1000 files of mods, cant make me return.
