SOVL

Does anyone take Resolve level ups in campaign?
I have played a good chunk of time now and have yet to ever take the resolve level up on a unit. Maybe I'm not understanding a need for it but it seems useless and when it rolls it can block other more interesting options. Maybe if a dev sees the thread they could remove it as an option.

well i use it for example for the duskborn hydra. because the hydra is not meant to chew thorugh enemies but just block them whlle staying alive thorugh regeneration. However that means it will often loose the battle, so more resolve will help it stay in the fight. So in my mind all unitws with regenration are good cancidates to have their resolve increased.

The only times I'll take it are for the last (or second-to-last) battles where my other options (+gold, +replenishment) are useless for that stage in the campaign. Otherwise, it's quite underwhelming.

Increasing the bonus to +2 would go a long way towards making it an appealing option.

I'd also remove the possibility of a discipline upgrade for commanders, since the odds of them ever using their discipline score is incredibly low.

Commanders should give their disciple value for checks at least to their retinue, or, better, to a small aura around them.

If I have a Commander with a very small, one unit retinue, than wounds/resolve are very important, to keep the boss in the fight longer.

yup. its a pretty crucial stat for lower discipline races, not just to keep them in the fight, but also get them to rally.
Yeah, I never really use it. Most of the time the other benefits you roll are much better such as more wounds, atk, or skill. Even on low leadership models the better move is to practice good flanking & support rather than building up discipline as those low leadership models aren't usually meant to just stand and tank a fair fight. Closest thing to discipline that is useful is the special undead buff that reduces crumble by 1. That one is great, and helps your already tar pitty style army survive longer.
I regularly take it for skirmisher/ambusher/archer units. Fleeing is extremely overpowered if you can make those Discipline rolls.
Commanders don't give their Discipline value to their retinue? :steamfacepalm: The documentation on this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game...

Not overpowered, just regular, tactical retreat strategies.
effective, is the word!

When victory is near certain, I will back out my squishies, to conserve their strength. Let the tanks finish the job.
