how luck based is this game?
i kind of like the game. but idk if i want to invest more time into it. i'm a competitive player. is ranked just gambling?

also this game needs an auto roll option. no real reason for a user to press space bar every time unless there is some sort of decision making involved.

Well how luck based are dice rolls?

The law of large numbers means the more rolls there are, the more likely you are to get average results. This game has a lot of rolls. I wouldn't worry too much about rng.
The smaller the force/battle, the more effect individual rolls have. But overall, smarter positioning can make up for a lot of bad rolling.

Fact that game has no panic checks for ranged losses, killed generals and fleeing units also limits effect of luck.
not very overall.. good play will consistently do well, bad play will consistently do badly. You get some key crunch luck moments going for or against you (usually break tests) but overall it feels like generally you get what your tactics deserve

Mayby solution of this problem cud by if they give player number 6s to change rolls result depend of the leader 2 for mage 3 for evrybady else plus aditional 1 each turn(that stuck if you dont use them)?

Good tactics are more important than luck. But you need to take into account small chance happenings that can ruin your strategy. So dont be reliant on only one units that has lots of great stats - it will sometimes fail, and it is good to have a backup for that time.

I don't know. My repeatedly upgraded elven spearmen with skill 5 and defense 4 lost twice in frontal melees against numerically equal skill 3, defence 3 enemies, because of bad dice rolls. Fortune is fickle, especially in war, but for me, it's just too much RNG.

The game is part dice rolling.
And part adjusting the odds in your favour.

The game uses the Warhammer Fantasy rules for flanking and charging enemy units in the rear.
Each give advantages.
So you need to be able to use a variety of units in concert to improve your results.

For example.
Using an infantry unit to charge and hold and enemy unit.
Whilst positioning a cavalry unit around the rear, to charge.

Units cannot defend against rear charges.
They only have limited defending rolls against being charged in the flank (side)

The characteristics of your units are important too, higher numbers give better performance.
Even a swarm of lowly goblins can overwhelm a smaller unit through more dice rolls and forcing more save throws.

there is an inherent luck in dice games, nothing can save you from 100 ones in a row but tactics does heavily influence everything, if you use strategy you can prevent the enemy from rolling either through flanks and range which can cascade and put luck further in your advantage, if you dislike luck stick to larger unit sizes because the large amount of dice plus 6 and 1 being guaranteed successes and fails respectively means you can't get screwed over by luck as much just by sheer amount of dice rolled while a giant with 5 attacks and max skill can still roll 5 1's

One can increase skills, re roll 1's, to mitigate the luck.
Also careful movement can do much as well.
As well as ways to re roll misses on hit and saves.

Dice rolls and cards are inherently luck based, but there's a reason Phil Ivey won double digit World Series of Poker. Knowing how to beat the odds and make yourself lucky is a skill more powerful than chance.
