Orcs and Goblins are absolutely terrible.
Clearly the weakest faction. They need a buff.

I think they are in a good place. the giant is great, goblin spearthrowers are good, the shaman is good, i've had great success with them, also they were the first faction i used.

Are you playing primarily the campaign or multiplayer?

I haven't really tried multiplayer, but I've played them more than any other faction in campaign and they are really good.

They do feel a bit weak. But I don't think it's an orc problem per se. Ranged units seem a bit too good and orc archers are just pathetic.

Greenskins have two advantages to lever: higher power (orcs) and numbers (goblins). Goblin shortbows are unreliable *at the start of a campaign*. Shortbows are regularly one of my top damage dealers by the end of a campaign (getting 160-190 kills) - stonethrowers or trolls getting the top spot (240-260 kills). There are just so many shots coming the enemies way that 1 and 2s are going to be rolled for saves. Big tip to help do the most damage: take Hex of Ruin on a Shaman and pick a unit to remove! With the Primal Fury buff a Shaman starts with, shortbows can even dish out surprises in melee.

I haven't really done any multiplayer and haven't tried shortbows there, but you do get 15 of them for cheaper than 10 imperial archers. The Hex of Ruin trick should work well with that.

Goblin mobs are also surprisingly good, especially when buffed with Primal Fury. Rank bonus gets added to Discipline for break tests, so get 25-30 gobbos with 5-6 ranks and they can hold their ground quite effectively. If in campaign, it can be fun to get the Dark Gift (from a random event) on them to add +1 power and +1 attacks - with spears, that's 30+ attacks!

Trolls are a workhorse. Get them putrid stench (enemies re-roll successful hits) ASAP and greatweapons.

Bolt throwers start of garbage, but you get 2 of them if you pick them at the start, and by the time they are firing 5 shots, hitting on 4s and rerolling 1s, doing 2 wounds per hit, they are your snipers for troublesome units - especially good against skaven with all their 2 wound units (flamers, longrifles, alphas).

Basically, you can't go wrong with an all gobbo force :D

Orc units live and die on a successful charge. They do a lot of damage and need to break the opposition, or weaken them to the point that subsequent rounds will not see the enemy dishing out many hits.

Just did challenge level 4 with goblins only, no orcs (ok fine i got a wyvern warlord halfway through act II, could not pass it up), absolutely one of the easiest runs i've done, started with the shaman and his archers, spearmen and 2 spearthrowers, added some wolves, trolls and a giant, plus the wyvern.

Nice! I'm on my difficulty 7 goblin only* run. *trolls and giants allowed ;)

I got divine protection on a pile of brutes and walked them forward to eat volleys and they still churned through enemy lines nearly unscathed. Orcs are really lopsided statwise, but I think the campaign gives you what you need to support them (skill/discipline/bird missiles) and they get really scary when they're buffed up.

I find the undead to be much much worse. They just crumble away during the fight and then you loose. And their skill almost universally sucks

What do you loose? Why were you holding it back during the battle?

As an Greenskin player in warhammer fantasy, I must say... that it sounds like it's balanced just like it should be then. You didn't play Orc's and Gobbo's to clean sweep the field, but to have a good time (and hopefully win).

I think they were referring to the Skill stat rather than an active ability. Raise Dead is a great skill!

Well they said they were loosing something, which means to release, activate, utilize, etc., in this context.

I read their "loose" as a typo for "lose" - i.e. you crumble and lose the combat/match.

this typo is becoming the standard spelling of "lose", love it or hate it, its an evolution of the written language. who knows how we're gonna start spelling "loose", maybe "luice" like "juice"...

Orc warrior has +1 power compared to a hummie. That's horrible...
