That being said, was this quicksave feature in the original game? I want a somewhat authentic experience (expert difficulty too) and idk if I should use quick saves or not.
Quicksave doesn't get deleted when you load from it, and no it was not in the original release.
You'd select it and it'd make a temporary save file then return you to the title screen. Once you loaded it the save file would be deleted. This meant you didn't have to either keep your DS in sleep mode or abandon your run early and return to town on shorter plays. For some reason the quick save doesn't delete when loaded on this version, so I'd be discerning about how you use it if you want an authentic experience.
Unfortunately I only realized that quicksaves were a thing after having wasted a great deal of time on that crap already. Needless to say, the quicksave is an immense timesaver and improves the experience greatly.
