Call of the Wyvern didn't resolve when I went to 8F

I just unlocked the 6th stratum, got the quest, went to 8F, I think it was the same boss from the first time althoguh it was marginally more difficult. but the quest didn't change. I think I was supposed to fight a Wyrm there but it was the Wyvern.

It it's the story quest, you need the egg, search the walls in the wyvern room. If it's the bar quest it's the path to the right of the wyvern room.

it's the side quest from the pub that appeared after I beat the level 25 boss.

following some advice I found from the DS game, I went to level 30 to all 3 dragon doors and then went back and fought the wyvern again and nothing. I can't resolve the quest which means I can't fight the Wyrm to open the door and that is one suck ass trip to level 30

I just finished this a few hours ago. You need the tough fang conditional drop to resolve the quest. Defeat it in 3 turns or less. I don't know if it's a guaranteed drop even if you meet the conditions but I got it on the first attempt.

yes I had just found this out last night after scouring some old guide. very bizarre that they don't seem to mention this anywhere or I wasn't paying attention.

Late, but the barkeeper stated that "The researchers say you'll have to end the battle with the Wyvern quickly for their purposes" when giving you the quest. This is the clue that you have to kill the Wyvern fast to get the conditional drop needed to complete the quest.
