Afaik, there is no need retiring at level 99 since the max points cap at 70 so you gain nothing retiring at max but better confirm this point before committing to it
L30-L39: +4 Stat, +4 Skill Points
L40-L49: +3 Stat, +5 Skill Points
L50-L59: +4 Stat, +6 Skill Points
L60-L69: +5 Stat, +7 Skill Points
L70-L98: +5 Stat, +8 Skill Points
L99: +10 Stat, +10 Skill Points
So actually retiring at L99 gives most bonuses.
It seems though that the best benefit is actually around between 70 and 98
Grinding to 99 is only valid for the extra 5 stat points and less for skill points, so the decision is up to the player if he thinks he wants to go for max and invest extra hours in it
Yeah I have heard retire is only optional however it's recommended to retire at level 30 only once because it does not take long time to level from 15 to 30 again.
In the remaster retiring at L30 gives +3 stats intsead of +4. I haven't tested whether retiring at L40 gives +4 or +3.
Guess they wanted to nerf it considering how easy it's to retire at lvl 30. So skillpoints were not changed then?
In case anyone wondering how it's possible to reach 99, it's because they gave bosses insane exp amount. You still need 1k+ level up to reach 99 though.
Not that you really need the extra stats anyway.
Who in their right mind would ever come up with such a cap raising mechanic? This is some of the worst design I have ever seen in any video game.
That's why you should run 4 Troubadour from 70 to 98. That way you can maximaze EXP gain fron one boss for 300k+ EXP or so I have read.
So that Hexer with good damage Revenge can kill the boss fast. I think it's 5th Stratum boss or so I have heard.
I'm aiming for 100% achievements and it just made sense to me.
The alternative is to retire once you have every other achievement but I also wanted the extra skill points gathering skills. Grinding back up to 30 from 15 didn't take much time at all.
