Retire until lvl 99 on everyone?
Will you do this or have you done it? I'm wondering whether if I will do it with everyone in party, just for fun and extra playtime. Have heard that solo boss is great way to do this, right?

Just keep in mind one thing if you didn't know it, you can only do this one time for the extra skill/stat points but you gain nothing if you retire again

Afaik, there is no need retiring at level 99 since the max points cap at 70 so you gain nothing retiring at max but better confirm this point before committing to it

I found this info:

L30-L39: +4 Stat, +4 Skill Points
L40-L49: +3 Stat, +5 Skill Points
L50-L59: +4 Stat, +6 Skill Points
L60-L69: +5 Stat, +7 Skill Points
L70-L98: +5 Stat, +8 Skill Points
L99: +10 Stat, +10 Skill Points

So actually retiring at L99 gives most bonuses.

It seems though that the best benefit is actually around between 70 and 98
Grinding to 99 is only valid for the extra 5 stat points and less for skill points, so the decision is up to the player if he thinks he wants to go for max and invest extra hours in it

Yeah I have heard retire is only optional however it's recommended to retire at level 30 only once because it does not take long time to level from 15 to 30 again.

In the remaster retiring at L30 gives +3 stats intsead of +4. I haven't tested whether retiring at L40 gives +4 or +3.

Guess they wanted to nerf it considering how easy it's to retire at lvl 30. So skillpoints were not changed then?

In case anyone wondering how it's possible to reach 99, it's because they gave bosses insane exp amount. You still need 1k+ level up to reach 99 though.

I did it on the DS version once, I will never ever do it again. 1733 levels is just insane. That was the ONE BIG thing I hoped they would have changed and I still hope they will change it since I like to play these games with at least one of each class (and like seeing 99) and it bothers my OCD.
Not that you really need the extra stats anyway.

If only it was such that reaching the current cap with any character would raise it for all characters but having to do it all over again from 70 to 99 for each new character is what makes it particularly insane.

Who in their right mind would ever come up with such a cap raising mechanic? This is some of the worst design I have ever seen in any video game.

That's why you should run 4 Troubadour from 70 to 98. That way you can maximaze EXP gain fron one boss for 300k+ EXP or so I have read.

Why run just 4 though? Why not do 5?

So that Hexer with good damage Revenge can kill the boss fast. I think it's 5th Stratum boss or so I have heard.

They swapped the level 30 and 40 stat bonuses around. Level 40 is now +4 to all stats.

To anyone who sees this in the future, because this is a search engine result: Do not hit 99! You can hundo the game with a party of unretired level 70s! The highest you should realistically hit is 71!
I subscribed to the logic of retiring at 30 immediately.
I'm aiming for 100% achievements and it just made sense to me.

The alternative is to retire once you have every other achievement but I also wanted the extra skill points gathering skills. Grinding back up to 30 from 15 didn't take much time at all.
