Okay, but the biggest question about this Remaster...
... will the quality of life improvements include bringing the way of increasing the level cap up to par with what the series did starting with EO3?

For those not familiar with the original games - EO1 had a hard cap of level 70 and didn't allow you to raise it at all. Starting with EO3, the first cap was 70, but could be increased to 80, 90 and then 99 after beating specific postgame bosses for the first time (though in Nexus the original cap was 100 and then 110, 120 and 130).

For EO2 though? Most miserable experience ever, where the original level cap was at 70... and then every time you retired the character (essentially resetting them back to level 30), the level cap was raised by 1 for that character only. And you only got that raise when you retired them at their current level cap.

If they're smart, they'd do it, but this is Atlus we're talking about...

Honestly can't remember much about the leveling but this does seem like something I want to be part of the games now.

I'm really curious as to whether this was fixed, along with FOEs not giving EXP.

Currently on the 3rd floor, no FOEs have given any experience so far, just item drops.

Also you had to retire once more at 99 to get all skill points for a whopping total of 1733 levels PER CHARACTER. I did this once on DS and I'm certainly never gonna do it again so I really hope they changed the level cap system. But hey, we got side-stepping in 1 so there is hope.

Back in the day, that was probably done because the reward from beating a FOE was supposed to be their drop, which unlocked much better equipment than the rest of the stuff from the stratum (minus boss drops of course). But yeah, doesn't exactly hold up, hence why they reverted it again after one game.

Why would they keep something so player unfriendly in the game...holy cow. That's just not good design and they should own up to that and fix it.

@RegalStar can you confirm this is the only way? They may have bamboozled us and still raise the cap after killing elemental dragons and just let the old way in, too... #copium

I mean you can see on the status screen that the exp bar stops moving at 71. Also this party already killed all three dragons.

Yeah I saw it the exp bar that's why I asked about the dragons. Thanks for confirming it.

Hopefully they'll change it with a patch or something...

What are they thinking? Everyone has like 500 hours of time to pour into pure grind, just to be able to have a max lvl party? That's just utterly ridiculous.

That's... a disappointment alright. And no, Atlus definitely won't change that after release and everyone hoping they will through a patch is huffing a lot of copium right now, I fear. Sheesh, way to screw things up...

Well the designed FOEs as Obstacle which the players were suppsoed to avoid but instead the were used for Level Ups. That is why the removed Exp in the second Game.

If they were designed as obstacles to avoid then why are there plenty of situations where they are (near) unavoidable? Also, they are on a respawn timer already, for the love of god. How much more BS "balancing" do they require? This kind of thing just shows you that something is designed poorly.
