Games like this or dredge?
Just finished both, love them, wondering if there's anything else out there in the same genre?

Have tried both and honestly they're more grindy than anything. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

LOL are you saying this game isn't grindy? Because its nothing more than a grindfest.

Never really felt that way to me. The flow and pacing of objectives alongside the wonder introduced with each passing day, not to mention the countless sub-game systems made it all seem like a pleasant trip to a gaming experience that has all but been forgotten on developers minds. Raft is a soulless mess that isn't even worth pirating, and Stardew is a watered down version of Moonlighter, which is a far greater game if you haven't tried it.

Like you, I really enjoyed both Dredge and DtD. A quick scan of my library brings to mind a couple of titles that might interest you:

Strange Horticulture :hellebore:
- closer to Dredge than DtD, and there’s no ‘action’ per se, but it does have fantastic atmosphere and a good story to puzzle out

Touhou Mystia’s Izakaya
- I recommend this game all the time because it’s just a great game -- and you run an izakaya, which is pretty close to a sushi bar (and it is insanely underpriced)

Pixel Cafe :pixelcafe:
This one I just finished my second playthrough on; it is so much fun. A little story, a lot of increasingly intense gameplay.

And two more that, again, not super similar to the two you mention, but if you liked those, you might like these:

While The Iron’s Hot

What do you mean when you say "like this or dredge?"

Like, what about them do you want in a suggestion? Because there's a game I highly recommend that has some similarities, especially to dredge, but is also completely unalike in many other ways.
It's called Sunless Sea, maybe check it out.

It has a lot of soul and can be relaxing, but it's also more of a horror atmosphere like dredge. Can also be brutal at times

To tell you the truth I've had a hard time narrowing down the genre myself. Basically what I mean is a game in which you manage something (other than yourself) by leveling it up through upgrades for reasons other than just combat. Sound confusing? What I appreciate of DtD is that you are micro-managing so many things while also taking part in a story that is by no means tedious or boring. What I like about dredge is the ability to level up your ship to catch more and more unique fish and unlock abilities all while dealing with the wonder the strange sea life and figuring out what is really going on. Both games manage to make the grind really fun, and that's really hard to do, but yeah.. I guess the ability to upgrade, manage and explore is what I'm looking for.

I'll check out some videos on Sunless Sea, thank you for the suggestion.
