Infinite loading screen on first dive after update

I was playing earlier today before the update, then closed the game, game updated, now I load my save and try to dive, and the game is stuck on the loading screen.
The loading wheel is running, but after a few minutes there is still nothing.
Chapter 2, main quest just switched to visit guardian room

Have you tried verifying your game files in properties?

I had the same issue and verified the game file integrity. Found 2 issues. Afterwards it worked.

It works, but I am curious now why is that the most popular solution. Any other game works perfectly without that after any update

I'm having this Issue. I verified files and had one issue. Fixed it and started the game, stuck on initial loading screen. Verified again, no issues. Started the game, stuck halfway through initial load. Reinstalled game, same thing

This is frustrating as I backed this game when it first released on Early Access and waited so long for it to be done but now I can't play it :(
