What's the difference between the net gun and the hush dart?

The net guns very final upgrade lets you catch 3 star crabs and stargazers easily (dunno if that works on tuna too.. enver tried it). The final upgrade for the hush dart lets you catch 3 star sharks together with the drone more reliable than the chance based tranq guns.

They have not much different in early game, both of them featured non-lethal catching on smaller fish. Their main difference shows in late game upgrade, the net can catch multiple medium fish(fish require drone to transport) and crabs, while dart can put larger fish such like sharks into sleep, making catching 3-star tier sharks much more easier.

Also the net gun is very nice at catching capelin in the glacial zone, you can bring back hundreds of meat in a single dive with that.

It can also catch larger fish to drone, but not highly aggressive sharks. You can net narwhal, sailfish, tuna to name a few.

Plus if you hit 2 or 3 tuna you can drone them all together and save a drone for something else.

I've not noticed that any gun can capture sharks. The tranquilzer upgrade to the basic rifle makes it generally more effective on mid sized fish than the hush dart gun because fish of that size usually require 2 hits from the hush darts.

Small sharks an rays - yes

well two 40% rolls vs guranteed after two consecutive hits.
You obviously need the drone to capture any sleeping fish that you would otherwise carve twice.

There is a point in the game where a tranq weapon is the only way to get 3 star sharks.

After the sea people village story progresses a bit you can get higher levels than the previous max, making net gun and dart gun both amazing at true max level.
