Crab Traps and Seed Levels

Love all the new stuff I'm finding, but I also got questions:

What determines a crab trap bait's effectiveness? Is it the kind of fish? Quality of capture? The amount of meat? Like if I use Tiger Shark meat as bait would that be better than Shrimp?

And did seeds always have levels or is that something new that came with the recent update? Can I level up certain crops and in turn get more when it's time for harvest?

So far it seems like the bait's rank matters but I haven't done any experimentation beyond that. I've been using Waptia Fieldensis since they're rank 9.

Leveling up the seeds in the Sea People Village is new and was added in the big content patch. If you go to the seed shop (the real one) you can start the upgrade process, where it'll tell you what the benefits are. Level 2 is a 30% increase in harvest yield, and I think level 3 is 70%? Haven't gotten beyond that yet.

level 1 is 0% level 2 is 30% level 3 is 70% and the max level is a 100% increase

Would love to see some upgrades for the crab trap, only being able to use it once per dive makes me a little sad.

There are, you can upgrade to have 3 uses per dive.

Kinda sucks you can't upgrade it since it has the longest grow time and only a default yield, but all the recipes that use it cap at only level 5 and sell for a ton
