What does sending fish to the fish tank do?

It allows the fish to breed so you can get more fish meat w/o having to always hunt for them in every dive. This will allow you to fill your dive inventory w/ more of the expensive fish meat.

Ok I had the same question for a while, but I figured it out - It's basically just a spruced up "next" button. you get a chance to scroll through and look at the fish you caught in detail, but other than that, "sending fish to the tank" is just unloading your inventory after a dive. You are not sending the fish you have highlighted anywhere different than the others. It's just a neglected UI issue.

Only roe goes to the fish farm. The fish tank is where all ingredients are stored for use at the sushi bar. As Beaver said, it's just a thematic "next" button.
