Solved: How to change game's Discord activity status to "plays [custom name] THE DIVER"?
Hello, I had the silly idea to change the game's automatic Discord activity status from "plays DAVE THE DIVER" to "[my custom name] THE DIVER" as a joke, but I cannot figure out how (while still maintaining full Steam functionality).

There seem to be 2 main problems:
1. I'm not a tech guy.
2. Discord automatically recognizes DAVE THE DIVER as a verified game, and as such I cannot simply change the status (as one can do with manually added programs).

I tried to rename the game's files to [custom_name]TheDiver.exe and [custom_name]TheDiver_Data-folder and added a Steam launch option with
"D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Dave the Diver\[custom_name]TheDiver.exe" %command%
to launch the renamed .exe-file instead.
After those changes Steam was able to launch the game seemingly without issues, but Discord still automatically recognized the game as DAVE THE DIVER.
When I tried renaming the whole D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Dave the Diver- gamefolder to D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\[custom name] the Diver, Steam simply redownloaded the game and created a new Dave the Diver-gamefolder. So renaming the whole gamefolder does not work either apparently.

My next idea would be this (but I don't know how to do that, and if it would work):
  1. use a clean, untampered download of the game
  2. deactivate Discord's activity status for this game specifically
  3. create a runnable dummy program (preferably with a Dave the Diver-icon)
  4. rename the dummy program to "[custom name] the Diver"
  5. run the dummy program and manually add it to Discord's activity status as "plays [custom name] the Diver"
  6. let it run in the background while playing Dave the Diver, so that my friends see me as "Me, plays Me the Diver" :steamhappy:

  7. optional: somehow let the dummy program automatically start and run in the background/tabbed, when launching Dave the Diver via Steam (also automatically closing the dummy after closing the game, would be cool)

If anyone knows how to practically do that or has a better/easier solution, please let me know!

EDIT: Solved by using a Custom Rich Presence managers

I want to do the same thing for GTAV to GTAVI ;p. I have tried using a dummy program but the issue is that when i tab to my game and the dummy program is not focused anymore the status dissapears on discord... did you have any luck with something else maybe?

Yes, I found a relatively easy solution: Custom Rich Presence managers.

I found "Discord-Custom RP" by maximmax42 on github, which I use to change my Discord activity status (deactivate the automatic game detection for the specific game, you want to tamper around with, within the Discord settings).
It does not start automatically along the specific game unfortunately, but starting the program manually is a small price to pay for a solid giggle :winter2019joyfultearsdog:

There are step by step youtube tutorials and a help page in the program to help you set up a custom activity status.
