what is the earliest ideal time to start expansions?

I'm in chapter 6. I still hesitate to download the Dredge and Godzilla DLC because they give "end game" vibes. yet I am also capturing fishmon, which I know extends to post-game.

Ideal is whenever you want. If the devs intended for them to be postgame DLCs they'd have made them unlock in the post game.

Good thing is there is no end game. After finishing the story you can play along. Diving, catching fish, managinh the farm, serving dishes, feeding the cats... It's all there in the never ending epilogue.
