How can i farm rare drop?

I've already finished the game and i'll probably go for the 100% achievement, but 1 thing that i still don't understand is how to farm rare drops.
I need 3 Porbeagle Shark Tooth but i don't understand what is the most efficient drop rate, should i harvest it with the knife, should i drone him, should i upgrade the tranquilizer to get an upper rarity?

It's RNG based I'm afraid, just go to the places where that one spawns and keep grabbing it(It's the same rate of getting it no matter HOW you harvest the fish). Same with things that drop from environment stuff. Luckily, you can go straight to the Glacial Area to look for it, and possibly grab some good stuff while there, like the Greenland Shark and Dunk down in the volcanic area.

From my understanding collecting fish at higher star rating increases rare drop chance but it's still RNG based. This is what I've heard in the past at least, not sure if 100% accurate.

I've never seen any proof of that hypothesis and it doesn't really line up with my anecdotal data either. I seemed to always have around the same (low) rate regardless of collection method.

i don't know if you can ever get an increased drop rate, but what i do know is you only have to harvest to the fish. you don't need to keep the fish
so if there is something im looking for (like the cuddlefish skin things) i'll grab as many as i can, dump them so im not over weight, and keep going.
