Do i have to start a new game to use the dlc?

i havent played since before the dredge dlc and now i want to get back into the game and try the other dlcs but do i nead to create a new game or can i just continue on the old save?

No, you can continue on your existing save files. The godzilla icon shows up on any save file that has the godzilla dlc activated. The dlc activates after chapter 5. (End Game boss fight)

Follow these steps if the godzilla DLC is not working for you

i) First of all make sure the godzilla DLC is installed in your library, go to Library > Collections > Dave the Diver > DLC > Godzilla DLC. If the DLC is not downloaded, download & install it from there and re-start your game.

Open the game and your save file and you should see a cutscene activating next in-game morning.

If not follow these further steps.

ii) Make a backup of the game files. It is important that you make a backup of game in case something goes wrong in the next step. Go to collections > Dave the Diver > Settings (cogwheel icon) > Installed files > Create a backup. Save your backup to your PC.

iii) Re-verify your game files go to collections > Dave the Diver > Settings (cogwheel icon) > Installed files > Verify integrity of the game files.

These steps should hopefully re-activate the DLC for your save file. Happy Diving!

am a little confused? is this DLC only running from now until november when it ends? or is that the time its free for, after which it will become a payed dlc?
Not sure what all the jargon is about in the information?

Download will no longer be available after the distribution period.
If already downloaded, the DLC can be played even after the distribution period ends.
If downloaded during the distribution period, the DLC can still be deleted and reinstalled after the period ends.

How i read that is if you uninstall the game after november you lose the DLC as it will no longer be downloadable again. To me it sounds like a time limited DLC between that period and once ended its finished and gone?

from what i read on the discord server as long as you download the dlc you will be able to play it for ever. but i am not sure so its probably best that you cheack it you self

read again:

if you downloaded it once it is yours forever. it literally says that. ;)
