Krono mostly just bumps into you which is super annoying. Shoot it as much as you can, if you're going to take damage it might as well too. The only chance you really get is that he takes a lot of time to develop his super attacks. You can use that time to swim away and find things on the ocean floor. The rock attack is easy to avoid if you are at a distance, and the fire attack is unavoidable.
Don't swim too far away, otherwise you won't be able to counterattack. The missile launcher is fairly powerful but tricky to use. You can swim backwards and keep it pointed at Krono and get at least one shot, which helps.
He is just basically like fighting sharks. Stay far and when he charges, go up straigth. Always get far from him, he can turn faster on himself than you can swim.
I used the last rifle as a weapon, it's an easy boss killer. Sniper is useless because ammo count is too low and you don't need that much range.
It is interruptible, though. If you use the sea blue rocket launcher when the attack starts and then evade upwards, it can land before the beam hits you and interrupts the attack. I went in this with a tranq gun, sadly. So interrupting the fire beam allowed me to stay alive long enough to beat him.
You'd think he'd squish the deeper he dives. Dave's deepest dive is 550 meters, while the crush depth of a Soviet Alfa-class submarine is alleged to be around 650 meters - it's supposedly the deepest-diving nuclear attack sub. Most submarines patrol at around 300 meters. The Oceangate Titan imploded at nearly 1,100 meters. And every 10m you dive, you gain 1 atm in pressure!
In the upper right corner there is a ledge where Dave could swim out of sight. Both the Flame and Stone attacks do not reach this area. When I first found this ledge I tried sniping at the Beasty, but it followed me in and was able to attack me. What I ended up doing was as soon as the battle started I grabbed the Rocket Launcher and swam for the ledge and got as far in as I could (using the 'up' and 'right' keys, as I couldn't see Dave). I waited until the Beasty got in a cycle of Flame attack followed by a Stone attack. As soon as the Stone attack hit the cliff wall, I moved Dave out so the front of the ledge, until the launcher was lined up with the ledge edge, and held done the left mouse button. The Beasty would move forward and the launcher would start targeting. As soon as I had target lock, I fired and then swam back (right) into the safety of the ledge. The missile would usually hit and the Beasty would swim off to start it's Flame attack and start the cycle all over again. The launcher would drop on the edge of the ledge and I would pick it up again as soon as it cooled (usually after the Flame attack). Once or twice the Beasty turned too soon and the missile chased after it, but wouldn't catch up. Since I was taking no damage, I didn't need to rush and a couple of misses didn't matter. It took 4 or 5 missile hits and 2 sniper shots to kill the Beasty. Below the ledge there was a ammo box and an air refill. Both were easy to reach once the Beasty turned away to start the cycle again. I used the ammo because I went into the battle with no ammo. I was about to make a dash for the 'air' when I killed the Beasty (I was at about 100). I hope this helps someone and keeps the game enjoyable for them.
You, sir, are a steely-eyed missile man!

The worst part about this for me is that I did the giant jellyfish, then I did the buzzsaw shark, because all of these quest points were available to me. Then I see the door is open and I'm expecting something like "Oh you don't have the right swimsuit go ask someone to make it for you." All I wanted to do was trigger whatever fetch quest I needed. Instead I am stuck here with a bunch of other boss pieces and no option to quit because of it.
1. Perhaps do not allow 3 consecutive bosses on the same quest line
2. Perhaps on a boss this heinous, give SOME kind of warning, or let me quit without losing basically ALL of my stuff.
3. Never have a boss that requires a specific load out to beat, ESPECIALLY one that is an ambush. People on here b like "Boss EZ, just equip top tier sniper rifle and every speed boost in the game" like I had a CHOICE.
4. One very difficult to dodge attack? Fine. It's awful, and it's hard for my slow af character to swim across the ENTIRE arena to avoid the flame attack. But this things BASIC BITE ATTACK is faster than my swim speed. I can see it coming. I can swim 90 degrees, but it still beats me with it's massive chunky hit box.
5. Even it's stupid fin tips hit me for a million damage. Unreal.
This is a chill game where I catch fish for a sushi restaurant? This is terrible terrible game design in what is pretty much an incredibly flawless game. It's heart breaking. I just want to stop playing today and I can't even do that.
